Parallelism
sacrifice for sin, example of Godly living; what He did
receive His inestimable gifts, daily follow His blessed steps; what we do, our response
Isaiah 43:1-12
Isaiah 43:1-12
God doesn’t say He will take us around these things, but through them, and He will be with us.
Not to make us stronger, but to make our faith in Him stronger. “Faith is produced through time and testing.”
Who is God? Who is savior?
The point is to understand and make known that God is God.
Sacrifice for Sin, inestimable gifts.
Psalm 116:11-16
Psalm 116:11-16
Psalm opens with “I love you” toward God.
God doesn’t ask more from us than He is willing to do/give; Himself.
To say we are free is half of the truth. We serve a new master, not none, not ourselves. We owe a debt of love and service to Him and for Him. “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.”
example of Godly living, daily follow His blessed steps
1 Peter 1:13-25
1 Peter 1:13-25
A life of intentionality and sincerity.
The difference between legalism and holiness is where your heart is. Same actions, different motives.
Similar with sin; same action, different context and motives.
The things that we thought in the before time saved us don’t actually save us. Today it’s “be a good person.” Isn’t that enough? Nope!
This is our time in the wilderness, strangers, sojourners. This is not the promised land, not our home.
Our common denominator is salvation in Jesus. Should drive of again to love and server one another.
Revealed through His word!

Luke 24:13-35
Luke 24:13-35
Right heart, wrong expectations.
“Did not our hearts...” This is how I feel as an Anglican. I had some of the picture, but not enough of it.
“I thought following Jesus would look like this, was going to be like this.”
Their politics clouded their understanding of God’s plan.
Sharing the gospel from the OT. Acts 7.
Sacrifice for Sin, inestimable gifts.

Things are getting very NT. Can’t be cultural Christians. Can’t be American Christians Must be whole-Bible followers of Jesus. Gafcon.
How are you doing at receiving, experiencing, enjoying His inestimable gifts?
Does that lead to daily following in His blessed steps?
The way to experience both is to be rooted in His word and amongst His people.
