As we are gather today to honor the memory and legacy of my great Lummie Grimes. I can’t help to reflect on how as a little boy I looked to see this tall slim man and my family telling me that you’re uncle Lummie.
I am so thankful that our Elders and forefathers made many sacrifices to pave the way for us today.
In year of 1937 the United States was going through the long and deepest economic downturn in United History.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was sworn in to the President of the United States.
Blacks were still suffering the racial injustices of Jim Crow laws and segregated schools.
The generation born in 1937 (1928-1945) was called the Silent Generation . They were the children of the Great Depression. They were a generation that understood the valued life , did not waste things, and was loyal ,committed and had hope.
Therefore, I want to exhort applied these three thing to our life
LIFE IS PRECIOUS
Remember Life is a precious gift the must precious gift that must be VALUE and not watse by builind on Christ.
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
I was glad to hear that Lummie receive Jesus Christ and his LORD and Savior.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
If you are able to listen to my voice no matter what you done it past, no matter how you you are you can fulfill your life purpose.
Value and Don’t Waste life= The silent generation did believe in Value of things and not WATSE. I remember my grandmother Sophia ( Lummie sister) getting on me because I was getting ready to through some bacon grease away. She said said don’t waste that grease boy we can reuse that. So saw the value in bacon grease.
The LORD see the Vulue in you
Likewise the LORD is saying don’t throw your life away we can reuse, restore, and repair all the broken pieces.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Get a new life by yielding to Christ. Get everlasting life is that enteral life that we receive by accepting Christ.
When we accept Christ as Lord and savior we build our lives a foundation that is unshakable.
Life will bring storms and difficulties;
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Those that build there lives on being LOYAL ,Committed to Christ shall be saved and escape enteral damnation
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Death is an appointment that know of shall miss.
Death does not discriminate
Death is an equal opportunity employer. It don’t care if young or old, rich or poor, black or white,
However, the was a man a from Galilee that that death could not hold down.
Jesus all God and all man ROSE again on the third and defeated death
He took the sting from DEATH,
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Those in Christ have HOPE!
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Our is a Savior that can to redeem us!
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Death those not have the final so for those that abide in Christ!
5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
We have HOPE that God will make all things NEW. I pray that you receive Him, Value Him, don’t waste this opportunity to be loyal and committed to HIM.
