what do you do when you mouth stinks - have something to eat, brush your teeth, mouth wash etc.

what do you do when you said someting really nasty to someone and you really regret saying that?

appologize, make up for it.

someone once sais that everything that comes out of your body stinks. think of it you blood, sweat, urine poop, vomit. etc.

the only one thing that you can make not stink is your words. so let your words not stink

what do you do when you are spiritually dirty by an act of yours and you are not happy about it.

lets see what the scripture says about washing.

Titus 3:1–7 ESV

1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. 3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

5 he came to save us. Not because of any virtuous deed that we have done but only because of his extravagant mercy. 6 He saved us, resurrecting us through the washing of rebirth. We are made completely new by the Holy Spirit, whom he splashed over us richly by Jesus, the Messiah, our Life Giver.

what i want to focus today is on the part of the Holy Spirit which dwells in us.

Holy Spirit is a wonderful person and so lovely.

he lives in us and is part of us and is our comforter.

Its so amazig to know that we have such a good friend that is there with us all the time and to whom we can relate to based on how much be have faith in.

so if you want to see God, look at me, look at you.

God loved the whole world, Christ paid the price for the whole world, irrespective of any cast creed or religion or profession.

so be good to all people. treat people as you would treat God in them.

thats why you should not quarrel or speak evil because you are actually speaking evil of God or quarrelling with God.

when you talk to people, you are talking to God

when you help people, you are helping God.

when you bless people, you bless God.

then Paul talks about that we were bad too. but when God appreared by his goodness and mercy

its not our good looks or qualificatin that he chose us,

but by his mercy

WASHING:

since we are all south indians, we all have the habit of having bath atleast once a day. i know in winter here and may be ins summer too, because of the A/c climate conditions ar home, we are lazy to take a shower.

but gnerally speaking we do shower.

but in some cutures or rather in olden day, then rarely took shower.

in TRV on one perticular day at a perticular time the airport runway is closed because the maharaja or travencore is going for his annual shower ritual. so no planes to land during that time

here i want to tell you of a God that will wash you and clean you from all sins.

speaking of planes, when we have a new plane taht an airlies purchase, you oftern see a showen of water beinfg sprayed on the plance on its arrival.

at the birth or a person we say that the water broke. i remember that when Pretta wa carrying Johny, Pretta went on an auto in TRV thats how Johny was born. not in auto but the water breaking.

wasing in water represents a new situation or a new life.

i remember the time when i had spent a few months alone with my grand parents, i had to wash my cloths myself. here i had seen washing machines spining and washing the clothes. there you have to salm the shirt of pants on a granite slab that is fised on a slope. you can still see that method of washing when we travel in a train or on a lake cruise in Kerala. some places in india, you will see people beating the cloth with wood.

any way my grand parents showed me how to do that. you dont just swing the dripping pants on the stone, you have to do it in such a way that after the pant hits the stone it need to collet together. so there was a perticular way to do it.

first of all, when you do this you get all wet, so i litrally had all water on my self and then soap too with all the swinging of the fabric.

then i used my logical engineering mind. here was where the problem started. back home i say the washing machine tumbler turing in one directin and then the other. so i witched hands to immitaite that. then i decided that i will invent the best washing method on stone that Kerala had ever seen. i realised that if the washing machine can spin fast , how about i do this swing on the stone fast too. so i gathered up all my energn and went on a swing.

keep in mind that swinging a jeans pant full with water on an elevated granite slab is fun but when it goes faster, i realise that its not so fun.

nobody told me that the outher edges of the granite slad was not polised. it had sharp corners or uncut edges.

so i lnaded with a jeans that became longer and stoned and ripped.

so you see, i dint invent the best washing tecnique rather i invented stone washed jeand with ripped style back in 1986.

why am i telling you all this. because any kind of washing or bathing is temporary and even if its clean, will damage the fabric.

in the roman time there used to be special bath places. in UK there a place call BATH. its more than ceremonial there , its a luxury there to take a bath in a bath.

“The water” translates a Greek word (loutron) that can mean a bath, the water with which one bathes, or the act of washing. It had come to be used of ceremonial washings, whether of the whole body or particular parts of the body, which functioned as a rite of passage from one state of life to another. Sometimes such washings symbolized the transition from the secular to the sacred.

we are saved by the washing of regeneration.

so the Holy Spirit in not just washing us but also regenerating us.

have you seen the ads on the billboards on the highways to make you look younger?

the movies celebs have to undergo periodic surgeries or treatments to keep looking younger otherwise you lead role will go to younger talents.

REGENERATION

“new genesis” either in the sense of a. “return to existence,” “coming back from death to life,” or of b. “renewal to a higher existence,

so we get washed by genisis or washed by Life.

so death does not get a hold of me. i get washed by life.

you know when you get hurt and cut your skin, it heals on its own. some time there is an infection, which means there is death around. but the moment there is life, it heals.

in the same way we dont get swallowed by death, we get swallowed by life.

which was used of a wide range of human or metahuman experiences, including restoration of health, return from exile, the beginning of a new life, the restoration of souls, new life for a people, and the anticipated restoration of the world

RENEWAL

renewal — the act of reestablishing something in a like-new and often improved manner with the implication of becoming superior, but a revival of His power, developing the Christian life; this passage stresses the continual operation of the indwelling Spirit of God;

renewal of fire extinguisher - get the label changed and its new to go.

Romans 12:2 ESV

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

your mind is made new every day

change the way you are thnking

you cannot stop thinking about anything

you only got to replace one type of thinking to another.

lets say that you have a headache and then suddenly your child falls down. you dont wait for the child to fall. you will forget your headache and go after your child.

one headache can be replaced by another headache isnt it?

John 3:3–6 ESV

3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

The work of the Holy Spirit is front and center in vv. 5 and 6 and must be front and center in the Christian’s life. The Spirit is the agent of rebirth and renewal. Paul’s words here bear a striking resemblance to Jesus’ words to Nicodemus in John 3:5. Both passages refer to rebirth and both speak of water and the Spirit. Since “water” could be translated “washing” in Titus, it is possible that Paul is speaking of a washing that accomplishes both rebirth and renewal. He then speaks of the Spirit being “poured out on us richly through our Jesus Christ our Savior.” He is the agent of the Spirit that accomplishes both rebirth and a continuing renewal in the Christian’s life.

Ezekiel 36:25–27 ESV

25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

the two concepts of water/washing/cleansing and God’s Spirit are closely linked but also distinguished and are related to the inner transformation of humans

The “Holy Spirit” is the one who directly effects the renewal. This initial “renewal” and the “washing of regeneration” mentioned just before are the twin aspects of inner transformation that were seen in Ezk. 36:26–27; Jn. 3:5–8; 1 Cor. 6:11: water/washing/cleansing and rebirth by the Spirit/renewal by the Spirit/initial sanctification

Detergant & Softner

what do we use to wash our cloths now?

ofcourse we need water. that is the basic. without water we cannot wash. but we add detergant and fabric softner to it too.

detergant to remove the stain and dirt

softner to soften the fabric. we use comfort at home.

The Holy Spirit is our comforter. here paul tell of the Holy Spirit function that will be to regenerate and renew

some people tell you to beat your selves up to be close to God.

let me tell you that my God is close to you already if you believe.

yes you cannot come close to God if you have sin or if you are a siner.

but thanks be to God that if you believe, you are no more a sinner, you are a child of God.

you dont have to do it - the washing

its the HS who is doing it

some of you might be thinking that well if the HS will keep making me new, i can keep on sinning.

well if you turn back to God, yes he will. but you would not live a victorious life.

if you dont come back, he cant do anything.

Matthew 12:31–32 NLT

31 “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.

all the sins can be forgiven except the blasphemy of the HS because its the HS that executes this regeneration and renewal. becasue hes doing the R&R in you life, you are able to

thats why he is reffered to as the comforter because you dont have to worry about if you are good enough.

he is certifing you

can ask you to look into your self and see whats bothering you?

is it self image?

is it self worth?

He is here to make you new
