Transcript
This term simply means - Christ Alone. There is no other means of salvation. There is no other name by which you must be saved, there is no other power in which you can be saved, and there is, nor was there any other throughout history or to come that bore the sins of the world on himself so that you and I could become the righteousness of God - that is, being made sons and daughters of God, made right before Holy God and our sins (wrongs) forgiven.
Only through Christ can we have this promise.
God would have been perfectly just and holy to leave us in our sin and condemnation. But our great God stooped down so low as to speak a saving word to us lost sinners, a word that reached its pinnacle in the living Word, the Lord Jesus himself (John 1:1)
Our temptation is to think, however, that there is something in ourselves, even in the slightest, that can contribute to our redemption.
Perhaps it’s obedience to the law, or perhaps it’s good works that spring from faith itself. But Scripture reminds us: “None is righteous, no, not one” (Rom 3:10).
God and God alone can save us.
You may be thinking - why is Pastor hitting this same topic week after week - it’s simple! Jesus Saves - and the need to proclaim that has never been greater. The theme of scripture is that JESUS SAVES!
There is a Savior
What joys express
His eyes are mercy
His word is rest
For each tomorrow
For yesterday
There is a Savior
Who lights our way.
Maybe even you, are doubting your salvation, perhaps you have never called on the name of the Lord for forgiveness of your sins for salvation. Today is the day to gain a “know-so” faith or to experience the saving grace of God for the first time.
Please - turn to Ephesians chapter 2.
There are 5 Solas - FIVE ONLYS. that we believe. and each week I will be touching on each in part.
They are -
Sola Scriptura - by scripture only.
Sola Christus - By Christ only
Sola Fide - by faith only
Sola Gratia - by grace alone
Sola Deo Gloria - for the glory of God alone
We believe that scripture is the FINAL word on every topic, and that the Bible is God’s only never changing, word and is without error. - This is important because if we doubt the bible, we will in turn doubt the very God of the Bible and therefore the certainty of our salvation.
Satan thrives in doubt. He caused Eve to doubt, and therefore sin. Satan is still the master of confusion and doubt. He wants you to doubt God and His word - He wants to cause confusion. Satan has been up to this for all time. Satan is still in the business of doubt and confusion.
We have sexual confusion
Identity confusion
Moral confusion
Satan is the master of doubt and confusion.
So we face this battle with scripture and believing every word that is from God revealed to us in the Bible.
We must believe what the Bible teaches us about Christ - that salvation is found in Christ and Christ alone.
The only thing that we contribute to our salvation is the Sin that made it necessary for Christ to die for us.
Without understanding who Christ is, we cannot fully understand our salvation through and by Christ Jesus and Him alone.
LET’S LOOK AT OUR PASSAGE. (EPH 2)
My prayer today is to encourage every believer and that the Holy Spirit convict and call on those that need to surrender their life to Salvation in Christ Jesus.

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
To all that believe on the Lord Jesus for salvation - He has made you ‘alive’ you are alive in christ, because of christ.
We often (the saved) that we too were lost in sin - we often ridicule and pick apart new believers and sinners. (bread example) until they are torn to the point of rejecting Christ because of how we treat them.
The church is a hospital for sinners where healing can take place - not a spa for the spiritual Pharisees of the day to rest back and have their ears tickled while looking down on others.
We are made alive in Christ - those who were DEAD.
Remember your past - and rejoice with great joy over your future and by all means tell others how they too, can move from being dead - to being ALIVE in christ.
You can tell how serious a person is about Christ by their desire to tell others about His saving grace. Who have you told lately?
we (all) are or were dead - spiritually.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

YOU ARE MADE ALIVE IN CHRIST!

2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
This seemingly simple passage is of the most profound in all of scripture to me. It tells of where I was before I came to Christ - and If you have no relationship with Christ - it tells of your current life.
walking (living in sin) according to the ways this world.
according to (literally) what pleased satan (v2) my life was pleasing to Satan before I knew Jesus as my savior. Same is true for each person hearing this.

3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Life was all about what pleased me. the flesh, the mind, the body, every evil desire, every lustful thought, every ambition of malice, living for self and self righteousness.
We are called the SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE.
It was (or) is our very nature to sin, and fulfill the lusts of the body and mind. If it feels good - do it, if I want, I’ll have it, I am my own person, I do what I want.
We are also called here - (by nature) children of wrath.
Making wrath not only our punishment but our parent also.
We both deserve the wrath of God, because of our nature
We are also a child of wrath - making wrath our parent - sin breeds sin.
as sin grows in our life, coldness grips our hearts, as our hearts turn from God, our hearts become as stone. One sin, will never be enough, one lust fulfilled will never complete you, you must keep sinning and turning from God - But I beg of you today -
WAKE OH SINNER - your time is not long for this earth, nor your life - WRATH (or) the punishment of God will come to all that do not turn to Christ for salvation.
CHRIST ALONE CAN SAVE. NONE ELSE!
A new life
A new life
How many of you would say - I wish i could do it all over again? I have made som many mistakes, hurt people, missed opportunities, lived a life I know is not pleasing to God - If I could do it all over - I would live a life more pleasing to God.
Maybe today - you have not confessed the Lord Jesus as your savior - and in this moment the Holy Spirit is urging you - you feel- this discontent with your life. There is nothing, or no one that can restore you but Christ Jesus.
There is not one thing you can do on your own. You cannot live a better life, you cannot give more money, you cannot try harder - THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN to to earn salvation. NOTHING.
These next few passages or my tear jerkers - We all know what a tear jerker is - (movie) But we need to stop - listen - hear the word.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
God had mercy on us. Even while we were and even while we are sinners.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
JESUS - took all our sin and in that - Jesus made me and you the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.
at the moment I call on Christ for forgiveness of sin - It happens instantaneously.
This is because God is RICH in mercy. WHY?
God loves us. EVERY ONE OF US!
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Look to John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God loved the world - it is so very easy to see this and the image that comes to mind is in fact - the entire world.
As if to say - yes, Jesus loves the WORLD. But where do I stand in the picture -
God loved you so much that He clothed himself in humanity of Jesus (the word became flesh)
So that He could take the wrath of our sin on himself - so that we may have eternal life through Christ Jesus.
Think of it like this - in all of the world - God loves you.
You can substitute the word “world” for your name. (go ahead and do that on you notes sheet)
THE BEST NEWS IS - God loved you even before you got saved. (dead in trespasses)
While God is LOVE - GOD IS ALSO JUST.
GOD LOVES YOU, BUT BECAUSE GOD IS RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY HE CANNOT BY HIS NATURE ALLOW SIN TO ENTER HEAVEN.
IT IS BY GRACE - SOLA GRATIA (GRACE ALONE) THAT WE ARE SAVED. NO WORKS, NOTHING YOU CAN DO, NOTHING YOU CAN EARN. IT IS A GIFT (EPH 2:8-9)
YOU MAY HAVE BEEN CONTENTLY LISTENING TO THE MESSAGE TODAY, MAYBE NAPPING, MAYBE THINKING THAT THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ME, PERHAPS EVEN TUNING THIS OUT BECAUSE YOU’VE GO THE NICE BLUETOOTH EAR BUDS AND YOU’RE LISTENING TO YOUR FAVORITE SHOW, WHILE THINKING THAT SITTING IN YOUR SPOT PLEASES GOD - ONLY ONE THING WILL PLEASE GOD - THAT YOU SURRENDER YOUR LIFE TO HIM, AND THAT YOU DO IT FULLY, RIGHT NOW. TODAY. AT THIS VERY MOMENT.
SALVATION IS:
BY GRACE ALONE
BY FAITH ALONE
THROUGH CHRIST ALONE
FOR THE GLORY OF GOD ALONE.
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
YOU HAVE HEARD THE GOSPEL PREACHED TODAY - YOU WILL HAVE NO EXCUSE BEFORE HOLY GOD.
TODAY I PLEAD THAT YOU TURN YOUR LIFE OVER TO CHRIST.
REDEDICATE YOUR LIFE, FOLLOW IN BAPTISM, JOIN WITH OUR CHURCH, BUT ACT ON WHAT GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO - AND DO IT NOW.
