It was said to a smaller crowd, possibly just the disciples
The essence of this passage is twofold.
Jesus is in unity with the Father
We are both saved and judged by Jesus

Jesus is the Way to the Father (44-46)

John 3:17 (ESV)
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
We cannot come to the Father but through the Son
Belief in the Father and belief in the Son are the same thing

We Must Obey (47-48)

Obedience is an often overlooked aspect of the Christian life
The primacy of Cheap grace in today’s churchDeuteronomy 26:16 ““This day the Lord your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall therefore be careful to do them with all your heart and with all your soul.”
Faith and obedience are bound up in the same bundle. He that obeys God, trusts God; and he that trusts God, obeys God.
