The Kingdom of God I
We are all concerned about the future, about our wellbeing.
There are so many things happening around us, every time we turn on the news, locally or nationally, we wonder how safe it is to walk out the door, the next phone call can be a scam the next email can be someone trying to steal your information. We worry about a nuclear war, which will wipe us out of the face of the earth, climate change, safety of drinking water, and food.
Jesus gave us a very simple answer.
Mat 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
I don’t know what you are worried about but
We have only two options The godly view, and worldly view.
God is our master, or not,
other things may have taken the place of God but God is not the master.
Seek ye First
I would like to begin a short series on the Kingdom of God.
Let’s go back to the sermon on the mount.
This priceless sermon,
The best-known sermon Jesus ever preached.
Is about the kingdom of God
The sermon was not for the multitudes it was for the disciples, is not intended to be a social gospel.
This sermon was for followers of Jesus, people who are not Christians, people who does not have a relationship with Jesus will not understand this message. They will try to change it and water it down.
God wants to give us His understanding over these topics,
Jesus is the one who came from heaven, and has the correct understanding from God, and the right doctrine, we need Jesus the Holy Spirit, to help us to understand the scriptures, and what he is saying.
If your understanding or view of the Old Testament, is different than Jesus’s, repent and align your thinking with His thinking.
Let’s pray
Let’s begin with the kingdom of God
1 what is the Kingdom of God
1 what is the Kingdom of God
The kingdom of God is a supernatural invisible realm, where God dwells, where the angels and archangels worship him with cherub-ins and Seraphim’s, where His sons and daughter’s adore Him. Isaiah shares his vision when He saw the Lord.
Isa 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Isa 6:2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
Isa 6:3 And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
Isa 6:4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
The apostle John writes in the Book of Revelations a similar vision.
Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."
Rev 4:2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.
Rev 4:3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne.
Rev 4:4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads.
Rev 4:5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.
Rev 4:6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.
Rev 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.
Rev 4:8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,' who was, and is, and is to come."
Rev 4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever,
Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."
The Kingdom of God Is a invisible realm to us, but it is the place where God dwells. He has invited us to live and fellowship with Him there, Is a real kingdom, that Jesus opened the door for us to come in.
2 How do we enter His Kingdom?
2 How do we enter His Kingdom?
We need to remember the conversation Jesus had with Nicodemus
Joh 3:1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.
Joh 3:2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."
Joh 3:3 Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
Joh 3:4 "How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!"
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
Joh 3:6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
Born again,
By the Spirit of God we are born again, that which is born of the flesh is flesh.
A person apart from the new birth lives a life that is dominated by his fleshly desires.
His body rules over his soul and spirit. In fact, his spirit is dead. That’s what comes alive when a person is born again, the spiritual birth, that is when my spirit comes alive.
Prior to that, I am living in the flesh and after the flesh, and my mind is dominated by the flesh, and thus, I have what the scripture terms the mind of the flesh, which is death.
My main concern is what I’m going to eat, what I’m going to drink, what I’m going to wear. My fleshly needs, my body needs. These are the things that occupy my mind.
But when a person is born of the Spirit, that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Then, the spirit becomes alive and begins to rule within my life, I repent over my sins and my disobedience of God, I receive His forgiveness.
and now my mind is occupied with the things of the Spirit, with how I might please God, in the worship of God, in the opening up of my life and my heart unto the things of God and of His Spirit.
3 Don’t worry.
3 Don’t worry.
Do Not Be Anxious
Mat 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
The word translated “do not worry” in the Greek is “merimnao” take no thought, do not be anxious.
Satan main concern is to keep our minds in those things distracting us, from what God is doing and saying.
Sometimes all the enemy has to do is to add two words to your question or thoughts “what if?” and all the sudden you find yourself in the middle of a storm.
when we allow the enemy to speak to us, we become anxious and we are consumed by worry, we begin to experience the world, as distressing, threatening unsafe, we begin to develop a personality trait, that in psychology they will label you as Neurotic.
Worry is something that all of us struggle with. Jesus is letting us know that we are not alone that our Heavenly Father will take care of us.
Giving no thought is not to become, irresponsible, we need to remain heavenly minded, keeping our eyes in heaven and not allowing things of the world to distract us.
Mat 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
This is not promoting idleness or telling us to be lazy, or not to work, is only to not be distracted by the worries of the world.
the birds of the air don’t sit around waiting for food to be dropped into their mouths, they are always looking for it,
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat."
there was a time in my life that I believed birds were more valuable than me, that I had no value, we are not going to talk about our value today but if you are listening, yes you are valued as much as Jesus, the son of God, He gave his life for you, the price paid for your salvation was the life of Jesus, that is your worth.
Mat 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
We can not change anything by worrying about it, sometimes we worry about the same things time after time. We need to make a conscious choice to give it to the Lord.
Mat 6:28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Mat 6:29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
Mat 6:31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
Even the rich can worry about these things is not just the poor.
Elon Musk of tweeter, Mark Zuckerberg of facebook, they have the same worries just in a different level.
Mat 6:32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
Php 4:6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
How do we, store treasures in Heaven ?, keep a single eye and don’t worry about food clothing and life
Mat 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
The Kingdom of God and his righteousness, Is a relationship with a Heavenly father who loves you, when we say yes to Him, His kingdom comes, His righteousness
Many wealthy and some very important people have written books about what they see as the most important thing in the world, or in our days, but it comes as a contradiction on the word of God.
Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be given to you.
Great man are not always wise
Pro 28:11 The rich are wise in their own eyes; one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.
Mat 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
You can stop worrying, Jesus will take care of everything.
You can make a choice.
Seek the kingdom first and you will receive all you need
To seek the Kingdom of God first , we need to make Jesus the Lord of our lives
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16
To receive Jesus, we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, and ask Him to be your Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins,
I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
