Romans 7:5–6 NKJV

5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

Romans 7:24–25 NKJV

24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Notice that we are serving “in” the newness of “the Spirit”

We have these conditions that stack:

justification

standing in Grace

now: being “in the Spirit”

They are all built on the foundation of: love & faith.

Romans 8:1–8 NKJV

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

there’s something that comes BEFORE your thoughts. It’s a framework for HOW to think.

it means all of it! All of it mixed into one framework of thinking!

Pneuma

The Holy Spirit, your Spirit, faith, grace, & loving Christ. They all come together to form this framework called being “in the spirit”! It’s a totally new way to think & serve!!!

But more than anything, it means the new WAY of serving. The new WAY of thinking.

it’s that your flesh is strong, your flesh is capable, your flesh can please God, your flesh is anything like Christ, you flesh even *wants* to serve Him! That you can atone! That you can please Him

it’s the thinking of the natural man! We do something wrong, we get punished. We now owe. That CANT be part of our thinking!

Also, we do something right, we get rewarded.

The flesh looks at what’s visible! *maybe* your faith will translate into something visible, but it doesn’t always!

WE HAVE TO GIVE THAT UP!!

all of it! fully!

That is the thinking that keeps us bound!

the flesh says you’re not worthy! It says you don’t deserve what Christ is giving you.

The flesh is what can’t accept Christ! Your flesh will never be able to comprehend what is the width depth height.
