The people of Israel were looking for the establishment of the great and prophesied Davidic Kingdom. A kingdom that would subdue the enemies of Israel and restore righteousness to the land. However, the kingdom Jesus had in mind was very different. He came to deal with the inner enemies of sin and the influence of Satan and to deal with the defilement of the person. The people that enter His kingdom in this sense will be the genuine ones who will honour their king.
