Do you ever feel abandoned by God? In the early part of Exodus, God delivers Israel with a mighty hand. The people saw the ten plagues in Egypt, and they were miraculously delivered through the Red Sea in Exodus 14. But already in chapters 15-17 they start grumbling and by the end of chapter 17 they ask the question “Is the Lord among us or not?". Things then reach crisis point in chapter 32 where the people actually make a golden calf to go before them. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10 “now these things occurred as examples for us...on whom the fulfilment of the ages has come. So, what are we to learn? In this message we will look at the story of the golden calf and specifically the question “Is the Lord among us or not” from a new covenant perspective.
