2 Chronicles 20:15-17
Not This One
Introduction
God is saying to someone – NOT THIS ONE!!!
There are a lot of battles that you have faced and did not have the victory. Someone came today in the midst of a losing battle! God is saying, NOT THIS ONE! You may have to show up…not to fight…but to see God win the battle!
I. Corporate Prayer (3-13)
a. Corporate prayer was about preparing for the battle before it got there! Way to go Jehoshaphat!! What a dope leader!
b. (12b) – “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.” – A PIVOTAL/TURNING POINT IN PRAYER! ADMITTING OUR POWER-LESS-NESS AND GOD’S OMNIPOTENCE!
II. (God’s) Corporate Response (14-17)
a. The Jehoshaphat and the people placed themselves in a POSITION to hear from GOD!
b. Absolute Freedom (15-17)
i. Freedom from Fear (15a)
ii. Freedom from the Battle (15b)
1. You need to show up, but that’s all…God’s says, “I GOT THIS!!!”
iii. Freedom from Fighting (17)
III. Corporate Praise & Worship (18-23)
a. Let the PRAISE begin! DON’T WAIT TIL THE BATTLE IS OVER…SHOUT NOW!!! (18-19)
b. Remember to have FAITH! (20) (“Faith is acting like it is so, when it is not so, in order that it might be so, simply because God said so!” -Dr. Tony Evans)
c. Sometimes you have to do the UNCONVENTIONAL & UNUSUAL to receive the SUPERNATURAL! PRAISE!!! (21) “Give thanks unto the Lord…for his mercy endureth forever.”
d. “Confuse my enemies, Lord! Upset their plans.” (Psalm 55:9a – Contemporary English Translation) (Praise can confuse the enemy!) (22-23)
IV. Corporate Victory (24-30)
a. (cp. Genesis 50:20, “…you thought it for evil against me, but God meant it for good…”)
b. Don’t stay in the beginning of the story…go all the way to the end!
i. You see in verse 2 the enemy was on the way, but at the end of the story, Jehoshaphat and the people end up with the VICTORY & STUFF!!!!
