By actively engaging in spiritual activities. (v.1)

What kind of spiritual activities do you engage in on a daily basis?

By committing himself to the Godly life. (v.2)

give heed - behave prudently in the lifestyle God has prescribed.
Determine to be blameless (be one of integrity)
1 Tim. 4:16 “Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.”

By purposely avoiding the sinful - to the extent of not even looking at it. (v. 3a)

What are you participating in that God deems worthless?
Job 31:1 ““I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin?”

By Developing a genuine hatred for evil things. (v. 3b)

Rom. 12:9 “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.”
Do you hate what God hates and love what God loves?
Do I really hate what evil people do? We make excuses for things that people do, don’t be so harsh. Evil doers are not punished anymore. We need to be careful who we are around
Jer. 9:4-6 ““Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother deals craftily, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer. “Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth, They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing iniquity. “Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; Through deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the Lord.”
1 Cor. 15:33 “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.””
Hos. 9:15 “All their evil is at Gilgal; Indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels.”
“know no evil” - purposely remain ignorant of the worlds ways
Eph. 5:12 “for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.”
Josh. 23:7 “so that you will not associate with these nations, these which remain among you, or mention the name of their gods, or make anyone swear by them, or serve them, or bow down to them.”

By defending the ways of righteousness. (v. 5)

1 Tim. 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
it’s time to get in the fight
the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing
2 Tim. 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;”
Eph. 5:11 “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;”

By spending time with spiritual people. (v. 6)

How much time do you spend with spiritual people?
A lot of people seem spiritual people but if they are telling you that it’s ok to miss church to do something else, spend more time on you, or are encouraging you to do anything that is conflict with scripture then they are not spiritual people.
Heb. 3:13 “But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”
Heb. 10:23-25 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

By resolving to protect our family from evil men. (v. 7)

Do not bring evil into your home, whether people or programs etc.

By making daily commitments to the Lord. (v. 8)

Are you making daily commitments to the Lord?
Are you engaging the enemy for your God?
Start that daily commitment by being baptized into Christ for forgiveness of sins and the to receive the gift of the holy spirit and resolve to be faithful and walk with Jesus everyday. If you have put on the Lord in baptism but have stopped daily walking with him repent and confess and begin walking a new with him each day.
