What’s the relationship between love and gifts?
1 Corinthians focuses on gifts as helping with revelation and teaching
overall focusing on taking the chaos out of it

The Body’s greatness is love not gifts.

Lists of gifts - Romans 12 , 1 Peter 4 , 1 John
If I do things to be seen as important or necessary
If I do things to gain a friendship
If I do things to be “spiritual”
it profits me nothing - in most other types of community this would profit both the community and person something
it also implies that everything claimed as “Spirit” is not necessarily “Spirit”

The Body’s love for one another comes from God and slows us down to care for one another.

How can we practice unconditional love really?
Ephesians 1 , Galatians 5
The emphasis in this description is on why love is not competitive and is unconditional
Love, however, is not just “letting you be you” or “do nothing that feels hurtful”
Helicopter parenting

The Body’s maturity is using God’s revelation in love to know and bless one another.

“Mysteries”
1 Corinthians 12:1–2 ESV
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led.
1 Corinthians 14:2–3 ESV
2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.
1 Corinthians 14:20 ESV
20 Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.
