Jesus solves our 3 biggest problems:

1. Sin: breaking God’s laws, hurting others.

He tells us how to live.

2. God’s Law: penalty of sin is death and hell.

Jesus paid it.

3. Death:

1. We have all sinned by breaking God’s laws, being selfish, not caring about God or others.

We inherited a sin nature from Adam and we sin by choice in our thoughts, words and actions. Romans 3:23.

2. The penalty on sin is death (Romans 6:23) being death of our body and the lake of fire (Rev 20:14,15).

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Why lake of fire?

God made it for Satan who broke the law (Matt 25:41).

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Since we also broke the law, we also should go to the lake of fire, because the law must be applied equally to all law-breakers.

This is bad news.

But God knows that there is a difference between Satan and humans.

Satan chose to get a sin nature, but we did not.

So God makes a way out of the lake of fire for humans, but not for Satan.

“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

A gift is a free present that we don’t pay or work for.

Eternal life is to know God now and go to heaven later.

We get it through Jesus Christ, not our works (Eph 2:8,9) because good works never cancel bad works.

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The law looks at what we do wrong, not at what we do right.

The law of God pulls us to lake of fire.

Love of God pulls us to heaven.

3. How can God satisfy His law and His Love?

Solution is Jesus Christ died for us to pay our sin debt (Romans 5:8).

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God took all the sins of everyone, laid them on Jesus (Isaiah 53:6) who volunteered to take the punishment for all our sins on the cross, instead of us paying this penalty forever in the lake of fire.

Jesus died as our substitute, sin-bearer, saving agent or Saviour.

He is available to be our Saviour from sin.

4. How can we get eternal life?

We must believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son (100% God and 100% man), died in our place to pay the penalty for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, then receive Jesus as our Saviour.

We become a son of God (John 1:12).

If we call on Jesus to save us from our sins & lake of fire & take us to heaven (Romans 10:13), God promises that we are saved from hell & will go to heaven.

1. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

(See chapter 48: How to lead a person to Christ)

God wants people to be sure of going to heaven and of His continual love and presence with us. One of man's greatest needs is to know for sure that we will be reunited after death with our loved ones.

God does not want us to "sorrow" as others who have no hope.

Clear assurance of salvation verses are:

1) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God." (John 1:12).

Question: If we receive Jesus Christ as Saviour, what do we become? ___________________

Question: If we call on the Lord Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, what are we promised?

3) "This is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, & this life is in his Son.

4) Jesus said, "If thou knewest

(a) the gift of God, and

(b) who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water." (John 4:10).

5) "Him that comes to me, I will in no wise cast out."

6) "Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 22:17).

7) "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth". (Isaiah 45:22).

Getting saved is easy as the snake-bitten Israelites in the wilderness being cured of snake-bite by looking at the brass serpent (Numbers 21:5-9).

This pictures sinners calling on Christ to save us ( John 3:14-15) being born again (John 3:3).

Passover night Israelites killed & applied lamb’s blood on doorpost & lintel to save them.

Ex12 :

8) "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24.
