God gives different roles to people to gain the land.

Main idea: No matter if you’re a Caleb or a Joshua, your role is important. Joshua’s are not more important than Caleb’s and Caleb’s are not less important than Joshua’s.

A. Speak the Word of the Lord

Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

B. Get the Will of the Lord

Joshua 1:1-2 “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.”

C. Organize the Work of the Lord

III. God Chose Caleb’s Role

Caleb was not less important because he was not the leader.

Joshua 14:8 “Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God.”

IV. Both types are vitally important.

A. Without men like Caleb conquest would have been impossible.

B. Without men like Joshua conquest would have been impossible.

Application:

If you’re elected: you’re not more

Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

If you’re not elected: You’re not less

1 Cor 12:18-21 “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.”

Whether you’re a Caleb or a Joshua, recognize you’re important and have a role to play.
