Introduction

1 Peter 2:1–8 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
I wanted to read all of those verses as sort of, a review, even though tonight’s message is only on the last four.
We’ve been looking at the subject of “The Progress of a Healthy Christian” for a couple weeks out of these 8 verses and tonight, we will conclude that thought.
We began by looking at how the Christian should “Depart Daily” in verse 1; we are to depart daily from the ways of the old man.
Then, not only do we have things we are to depart from daily, but in verse 2 and 3, we see that we are to “Dine Daily” on the Word of God.
A genuine believer will desire the Word of God as a newborn babe desires milk!
Thirdly, tonight, we will look at how...

We Must Dedicate Daily

So, the progress of a healthy Christian is to Depart Daily, Dine Daily, and Dedicate Daily...
The Christian life boils down to whether or not we love the Lord.
It’s not as much about our work as it is our worship.
It’s not about what we do, but what we are devoted to.
Think about the lessons we can learn from Mary and Martha. We can all get busy doing the right things, but busier Christians don’t make better Christians. Mary chose that “good part” which could not be taken away from her.
Good worshippers make good workers.

We Are Beloved of Christ

1 Peter 2:5 KJV 1900
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

We Are Built Through the Church

1 Peter 2:6–7 KJV 1900
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

We Are in a Battle with the Contentious

1 Peter 2:8 KJV 1900
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
