Door Knocking Job - I was in the palce that I shouldn’t of Been - If I had known, there was NO WAY, I would do that job - HOWEVER, So many great things happened
Why do I tell story? Because as young adults, I feel like we are searching for where God is calling us, we can get trapped in the same ol’ confused’ etc.
David was a little bit like this - He was a shephard Boy, when the prophet came to anoint a new King, David was seen to be the youngest, and he was tending the Sheep | Big Calling, and he was just being faithful, Tending the Sheep.
When a Battle Came | he had a super important Job - Want ot know what it was? To bring his brothers lunch. Every day, he would get the lunch, and take it to the battlefield.
Now story goes - Goliath, huge giant, taunting the isreal army - If anyone would take it on 1 on 1, and defeat, the war would be over.
David was coming, delviering lunch one day and heard Goliath taunting God;
and he went up to the King and said “Who is this taunting the Living God of Isreal” - and David said to Saul that He would fight him.
Saul, like the world does, looked down on David and was like “who are you? you can not fight”
David turned around and said;
1 Samuel 17:36 ESV
Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.”
Where was David’s Courage? It was in the work of God, He goes on to say very next verse
1 Samuel 17:37 ESV
And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”
Saul then tried to dress David in his armour - but it didn’t Fit - It was too heavy - See Saul was trying to Put something on David that he wasn’t ready for…yet - I say yet, because we know David becomes a mighty king.
So david takes the armour off, we know the story, grabs a sligshot and his stones - Faces up to Goliath and says this;
1 Samuel 17:45–46 ESV
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
Here is my question - Where are you in the story?
Are you in a field, being prepared, are you in a season of waiting, feeling like it’s not worth it, tending the sheep? I want to encourage you to be faithful there - God is using it.
Has something been put on you by the world - Like David and the heavy armour, is God asking you to take sometihng off - Expectations of the world? Expectations of others? What is it? What is God asking you to take off?
Or are you facing a Giant in your life? Are you believing Jesus is Lord, but you are just out of faith?
Here’s the kicker - It’s been said that if we just had the faith in Jesus, if we where just strong enough, we could defeat Goliath.
But it’s not true.
Goliath has already been defeated. It was done, by Jesus, our Lord and Saviour - Jesus is the better David, Jesus defeated Death hell and the grave, and in doing so he released the Holy Spirit who now lives in YOU.
no, we aren’t david - we are the isrealites, standing behind David, Standing on the word of God, looking to build a strong foundation and my encouragement to you is to step out from the worlds expectations and step into what God has for you.
in thw field - God is using it
expectations put on you ? weight of the world. Take it off
facimg goliath? Hamd it over to Jesus. Give it to him ..
I What ever your gripping onto, let go of, and let God have control - He is already working you into his Miraculous plan.
