John 14:2-3

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Eternity……..Heaven / Hell

If I were to ask the question, why are you here today?

Just why did you come to church, why do you live this way?

No doubt I would get different answers, there would be different perspectives, yet somewhere in the midst of the answers there would be similarities.

At the core we all have come to the realization that there is a God.

With that understanding we feel that there must be an eternity and while the human mind cannot fully grasp eternity, we feel that there will be a Heaven and a Hell.

While your walk with God may begin due to a fear of going to a Devils hell where there will be flames, weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, utter darkness, and torment.

As you turn from sin and find a loving Savior, it should become less a fear of Hell and more of a love for God, a hunger to please him, and a desire to spend eternity in Heaven with Him.

While we are surrounded with evil, sin, and perversion. (Senate Bill 145) 10 yrs Registered sex offender

Heaven…..Beauty and splendor

Sometimes we need to stop and think and get a fresh view of Heaven.

How often do we really think, and dream of what Heaven will be like.

People talk of what Heaven will be like and your Bible gives us some details.

Revelation 21:4

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, ( no more standing at the casket of loved ones, trying to cope and figure how you will continue now that they are gone) neither sorrow,(Stress, anxiety, depression) nor crying,

( No tears of grief, No crying because someone hurt you or did you wrong) neither shall there be any more pain:

(Exhort / Kylie) for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son………………………………VS 11

11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious,even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

We can’t even begin to imagine all that Heaven will be the glory and splendor, and then to think that there will be no sun for He is the light.

Reunited with loved ones.

All the beauty and then to be re united with lost loved ones and friends who we have missed dearly.

To stand before the king of glory, to bow at his feet and worship Him.

At funerals they sing the song, I can only imagine………..but sometimes we really need to stop and imagine it.

How marvelous it will be to spend eternity with our lord and savior.

People love to talk about what he has gone away to prepare for those that love his appearing and obey his word.

They sing songs that remind us of our text today.

Lyrics like.

(Just) build my mansion next door to Jesus And tell the angels I'm coming home It doesn't matter who lives around me Just so my mansion sets near the throne

My mansion's yonder on the hills of glory Oh I hope my mansion sets near God's throne

Songs about having a deed to a mansion in Heaven

I've got a mansion just over the hilltop In that bright land where we'll never grow old And someday yonder we'll never more wander But walk on streets that are purest gold

Many funerals have been preached with the theme, that the person is no longer here on this earth, but they are in their mansion that Jesus went away to prepare for them.

Don’t you want to go to this beautiful place, do we really want to go?

Do you ever wonder just what your mansion will be like……..or better yet just how are we to go about

Obtaining Our Mansion

Let’s look at what Jesus had to say about it.

John 14:2

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Now we are going to dig into this and see what we can find, are you ready?

Now before we launch out, I must warn you, I’m about to mess with your Pentecostal Theology.

Some of you are going to think I have lost it, but if you will stay with me, we are going somewhere today.

In John Chapter 13 we read of the last supper, Jesus takes communion with the disciples and then he washes their feet.

He begins to tell them that he will be betrayed and that while they may not understand it yet, this has to happen.

John 13:31-32

31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

I must be glorified, before you can understand what all is being done.

Vs.36

John 13:36

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

The disciples are confused, while they have followed him and they have seen so much with all this they are troubled

Immediately after this we go into

Chapter 14

John 14:1-4

Let not your heart be troubled:

(Don’t be Afraid) ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

He is saying, don’t be afraid of what is about to happen, trust in me.

I have to go to prepare a place, but you must let me go, because I’m going to prepare a place.

Illustrate?

And when it’s prepared, I’ll come get you and you can stand that place with me.

You can’t be there until I first go prepare it.

Now you ready you may want to buckle your seat belt.

Put verse 2 back up there.

Now you need to understand that when your bible was translated by King James it was translated into the English language and there are some words that loose meaning in translation.

When they translated this verse, they were captured no doubt by this place with all the jewels and crystal and gold.

In my Father's house are many mansions:

This word mansion in the original Greek doesn’t say mansion……………………………

He is saying in my Father’s house are many dwelling places.

I know right now, I’m battering what you have been told, and tearing down what you have believed.

I understand you want your mansion.

People say just build me a cabin over in the corner and ill be happy in Heaven,

But right now as I am taking your Mansion, It’s easy to doubt and get upset.

I’m not done yet, while this verse doesn’t mean some elaborate mansion where we can be high class and enjoy heaven.

There is a mansion………………..

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: (Dwelling Places) if it were not so,I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Just what is he going away to prepare?

What is this place?

How can I Obtain It?

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,

(This is not talking about the Second Coming of Christ)

and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

There is a way to get to the dwelling place, the place He has prepared.

John 14:16-18

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, (just what is this comforter?) that he may abide with you forever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not,……………………………………

So, there is a comforter that is coming, but Jesus said the world can’t receive it.

Because they don’t know him.

Why….because they can’t see it.

John 3:3-8

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

John 7:33-34

33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thitherye cannot come.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given;because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

What did He tell the disciples in Chapter 13, I have to be glorified, ………….ye shall follow me afterwards.

John 14:17

Eventhe Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

But ye can know it……………………….How

Because he dwells in you, ……………………..

And shall be in you.

18 I ( Who) “Jesus”will not leave you comfortless:I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

John 14:26

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

No preacher He is talking about mansions in Heaven

He is talking about the second coming.

So is there no comforter, until the return of Christ.

Colossians 1:27

To whom God would make known what isthe riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

It’s mansions…………..you are twisting it or mistaken one.

Let me ask you something.

So we really believe that Jesus cant return until our mansions are prepared and it is taking God this long to prepare Heaven, that he just hasn’t come to get his bride, because he is still preparing Heaven?

The same God who created Heaven and earth and all that was created in six days, by his spoken word.

But now somehow, he and the angels are Construction Etc.

Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Why would there be mansions built in a place that will pass away?

Revelation 21:1-4

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and betheir God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The dwelling place is not some far off thing that he has gone to prepare..

The moment he was glorified he had a dwelling place prepared for you and I.

Jeremiah 23:23-24

23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

Obtaining Our Mansion

We find the dwelling place he has created, when we repent of our sins, go down in a watery grave in Jesus Name and receive this precious gift of the Holy Ghost.

The mansion wants to settle in this place today, he has made this a dwelling place.
