His Exaltation and Glorification

Introduction
Scripture for the year
Theme for the month
The Hebrew Word most often translated as exaltation, is to “to lift up,” “to be or become high.”
It is used with reference to both God and man, e.g. Ex 15:2, “My father’s God, and I will exalt him”; Ps 99:5 “Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy!”
And man (Job 24:24; Ps 118:16).
In the New testament, the Greek Word for exalt is not used in reference to God, but for man where self exaltation is widely discouragedis not used
Self-exaltation is strongly condemned, esp. by Christ; humbleness is the way to true exaltation (Mt 23:12; Lk 14:11; 18:14; cf Jas 4:10; 1 Pet 5:6); the supreme example is that of Christ Himself (Phil 2:5–11).
The lifting up or raising on high of a person, in words or actions. The exaltation of Jesus Christ, first on the cross and then in his resurrection, provides a model of how God exalts the humble and obedient. God also humbles those who exalt themselves. Believers are called upon to exalt God in their praise of him.
