Romans 8:29 KJV
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
For whom he did foreknow. Those who he knew before hand, those who he had already determined, but much more deeper than that, those in whom he has appointed as the subject of future privileges.
You are the subject of future privileges.....I need for you to tell someone......BETTER IS ON THE WAY! You are setup for future privileges, future benefits, future success, future victory.
Why because God has preordained it, he preordained it before the foundation of the world.
Let’s move further:
“Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.” he predetermined......in the “Mounce Greek Dictionary of the Bible” predestinate means “to mark”.
God has marked you. God has a mark on you. He could have marked anyone else but you......but I need all the saved folk in here to give God praise that the LORD marked you.
The LORD marked you, The LORD preordained you.......why? To be conformed to the image of his Son.
Conformed in the greek is symmorphis. The term morph means to change the form or the character. It means to assimilate to be similar to the thing in which it is changing to.
The LORD has marked you to be like his Son. You are marked to be like Jesus.....you are suppose to be like Jesus!
That’s why when God saves you......I mean when he saves you for real. You go through a transformation. When God saves you for real, when Jesus comes into your life.......he begins to work on you and in you (elborate).
And he transforms your life. He delivers you from a world of sin, he liberates you from things that have control over your life, and you become more and more like him!
And when you are transformed into the image of his Son, you ought to look like Jesus, you ought to walk like Jesus, you ought to talk like Jesus......because Jesus, the Spirit of the Living God, now resides in you!
Now the focus of this scripture is towards the end of this verse where it says:
“that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Here it is talking about the resurrection.
The Gospel declares, that Jesus the Son of God, who is God manifested in the flesh. Stepped out of eternity, put on human flesh, was born into this world, being both human and divine, He died on the cross for the remission of sins, was buried in a grave, and then rose again on the 3rd day.
Jesus suffered:
Jesus, suffered in his earthly ministry.
He was tempted by the devil.
He was misunderstood.
He was judged.
He was talked about.
People plotted against Him.
He was abused.
He was mistreated.
AND when he was taking the abuse......He didn’t even open his mouth......he took it!
Encourage your neighbor and tell them “neighbor......if God has marked you, if you are his child......you can take it too!”
You can take whatever the devil throws at you.
“I Will Bounce Back!”
Ultimately he was killed.
He gets what it is like to be in your shoes.
He went through all of this stuff, it seemed as if after he died, everything that he did was for naught.
His disciples were depressed, they were afraid, they were hurting, because their friend and master died. They went and locked themselves in the upper-room because they were afraid that they were next.
IT SEEMED AS IF IT WAS ALL OVER.
But on the third day......Jesus rose from the dead. And after he rose from the dead, the Bible declares that the disciples received word from the sisters that Jesus was alive but they didn’t believe it. They thought that it was impossible.
But I want to echo what the word says “All things are possible to them that believe.”
Jesus came where they were, they were locked in a room afraid, discouraged, not knowing what to do......but Jesus walked through the wall, entered the room, and basically told them “Everything is going to be alright I’m here!”
And that’s what the LORD told me to tell you this afternoon........I’m in the room......EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT!!! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT!?
JESUS bounced back.......and the word declares to us today, that He foreknew you, he marked you and predestinated you to become conformed to the image of His Son!
And I’ve come from Roanoke to tell someone today, that you’ve been taking some lumps over your head, you’ve been hurting, you’ve been discouraged, you’ve lost somethings, you’ve been talked about, you’ve been mistreated........BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD SAYS........THAT YOU’VE BEEN PICKED TO BE LIKE JESUS!!!!
LOOK AT YOUR NEIGHBOR AND DECLARE.......I’M COMING OUT OF THIS THING A WINNER!!!! I WILL BOUNCE BACK!!!
Because the word says:
Romans 8:30 KJV
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
God called you......He summoned you.
God then justified you, it means He made you right....he forgave you of your sins.
And then....I like this last one, “whom he justified, them he also glorified. To glorify means in this text that God has invested in you!!!
It means you are precious to God......it means you are valuable to God! And when you possess something that is valuable.....you make sure that you take care of it!!!! You guard it, you watch over it, you protect it!
So if we are valuable to God, if God has invested in us, if God has marked us:
Romans 8:31 KJV
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
If God be for us, who can be against us? If God is on our side.....who can be against us?
Romans 8:32 KJV
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
If God spared no expense for us, If God spared not his own Son.......
John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
IF God spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all!!!
How shall He not with Him also freely give us all things!?
WHAT IS IT YOU NEED FROM THE LORD!?
I GOT ANOTHER WORD FOR YOU........
GOD IS GOING TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO MAKE IT!!!
DO YOU HEAR ME THIS AFTERNOON.....I SAID GOD IS GOING TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO MAKE IT!!!
Let’s end this and get out of here:
Romans 8:35 KJV
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Paul writes this to the Church at Rome, they were going through immense suffering. Many were dying, others were arrested for proclaiming Jesus, some of the saints were being discriminated against, they were being persecuted left and right.
Lest we forget, the Coliseum in Rome where many Christians were made a spectacle, given to Lions in front of thousands, lest we forget, that many Christians, were burned alive and used as human candles to light the streets of Rome, lest we forget how families were separated, misused and mistreated.
And you know how the devil tries to play with our mind. If God really loved you....he wouldn’t allow you to go through this stuff.
If God really loved you......he would have kept all of this bad stuff from happening.
If God really loved you.......Momma and Daddy wouldn’t have died.
If God really loved you......he would deliver you from this jail cell, he would deliver you from this illness, he would make sure you want for nothing.
But Paul encourages the saints and asks the question “WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?”
SHALL TRIBULATION?
SHALL DISTRESS?
SHALL PERSECUTION?
SHALL FAMINE?
SHALL NAKEDNESS?
SHALL PERIL OR SWORD?
Romans 8:36 KJV
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
But I want to put a stake in the ground at verse 37:
Romans 8:37 KJV
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Saints of God, even in the midst of tribulation, in the midst of distress, in the midst of persecution, in the midst of famine or lack of substance, in the midst of nakedness, peril, or even death!
WE OVERWHELMINGLY CONQUER THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US!
JESUS SUFFERED....BUT HE STILL CAME OUT VICTORIOUS.....AND BECAUSE HE IS VICTORIOUS.....WE ARE VICTORIOUS. I DARE YOU MAKE THE DEVIL MAD AND DECLARE.......I STILL GOT THE VICTORY!!! I GOT IT THROUGH JESUS!!!
Romans 8:38–39 KJV
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I WILL BOUNCE BACK!!!
