Have you ever had someone gossip about you?
See when I was working at a summer camp there was these couples that everyone would gossip about. Are they or are they not a couple, you see I wanted nothing to do with it, I was on fire with the lord and had no time for the ladies.
However people kept trying to tell me or talk to me about my opinion on this camp relationship, if I thought it would last or fail.
see no matter where I was, and my camp had 3 different camps inside of it so even if I was at the furthest point I would still have people asking my opinion on the camp crushes!!!
However this story tells not about the point of dating no that was last week but rather about the spreading of a story.
You see the story about this guy name Jace who had a crush on who knows which girl that week. That story would spread through the camp and if you did not hear about it you were missing out.
What started with one person turned into a sharing of wild fire and spread out way beyond the original audience.
Acts 2:1–12 NIV
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
See first they were set up with the Holy Spirit that altought Jesus returns to heaven, he did not leave them helpless or aimless.
Rather here in this gathering they are growing together and recceiving Gods blessing
In the same way thats what Youth Group is;
Here is the place where we recceive instruction from the Lord and its also where we pray for others and ourselves.
See when we come to youth or Church it is the perfect time to get direction, thats what the Disciples did when they felt lost.
They gather together to pray and are filled with the Holy Spirit so that they can now speak in tounges and from this its a spread.
We have talked about Spiritual gifts before today as well and that is what this passage is about, however in our modern context I think this can also look different.
Imagine this, we gather here
in prayer ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about one person to pray for this week - 5 to 10 mins
in Prayer ask the Holy Spirit how you can have a kingdom impact on them this week - 5- 10 minutes
Come up with a I will statement
