The Beginning

To begin our series on the family, we have to begin at the beginning.
Did you know that God made the family - the concept of family -
God made Adam - was his Heavenly Father and had relationship with Adam.
God made Eve for Adam because there was no on comparable or suitable for him.
Adam represents all mankind in our need to belong - to God, and to people.
Marriage is the uniting of a man and woman before God to
Understand the love of God in another being
Have children in a family Unit (Be fruitful and multiply)
Represent a love between Christ and the Church
Enjoy the Plans of God (Journey) together
Genesis 2:24 NKJV
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Genesis 2:24 RVR60
24 Por tanto, dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y serán una sola carne.
The devil has been destroying marriages as much as possible since the garden.
Consider why the serpent went to Eve and not to Adam.
Consider what would have happened if they confronted temptation together.
If the devil had attacked them together, they would have been like a shield and together deflected his lies.
To destroy them, he had to bring division.
The devil knows that if he can create division in the marriage, he can bring destruction to the family
DIVISION IN MARRIAGE
=
DESTRUCTION OF FAMILY
For years we have talked about Life’s priorities:
GOD
SPOUSE/PARENTS
CHILDREN (IF ANY)
EVERYTHING ELSE AS GOD LEADS
Only a godly man can be a godly husband. Only a godly husband can be a godly father.
Only a godly woman can be a godly wife. Only a godly wife can be a godly mother.
They pour out from one to the other and so children depend on godly parents to represent Christ well.
Parents cannot expect to have godly children when they do not set the example of what that looks like - Individually, and together united in marriage.
1 Timothy 4:12 NKJV
12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12 RVR60
12 Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, espíritu, fe y pureza.
Husbands and Wives - Young people who are considering marriage:
Do you love your spouse in word?
Conduct?
Love?
Submission to the Holy Spirit?
Your Faith?
Purity?
How can our kids be an example of these things unless we, parents, model them for our kids.
This needs to also be modeled by those whose kids are not here.
This is not something you can do in yourself. You must do the following:
Ask that God would show you how to live in Him (in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith, and purity) Overflow to spouse, kids, church, world
Psalm 139:23–24 NKJV
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23–24 RVR60
23 Examíname, oh Dios, y conoce mi corazón; Pruébame y conoce mis pensamientos; 24 Y ve si hay en mí camino de perversidad, Y guíame en el camino eterno.
Be Humble with your kids (if you have them) or Parents. We need Jesus.
James 5:16 NKJV
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16 RVR60
16 Confesaos vuestras ofensas unos a otros, y orad unos por otros, para que seáis sanados. La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho.
Practice confession (apology). Take ownership, responsibility, and apology (with action)
Practice forgiveness.
Practice transparency
Pray: Individually, together, as a family
When your kids see you ask God to make you a better husband, father, wife, mother, son, daughter, it increases the grace we give each other.
If you are single, pray with your parents or with friends. We are to experience God in prayer to align ourselves with His will.
Altar call:
Perhaps God is working on you individually
working on you in your marriage
working on you in your parenting
working on you in how you see marriage
If we want to see God change our community, it begins here. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Let’s be real before Him.
