We are not part of a religion, we have a friendship with Jesus.

We are going to Talk to Jesus today.
We are going to Listen to Jesus today.
We are being encouraged to engage with God in deeper and more real way than ever before in your life.
Abide is found 57 times in the bible, and 41 of those times are found in John’s writings, John, 1 John, and 2 John.
John 16:23–24 (NASB95)
23 “In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
The disciples had asked many questions up to this point:
“where are you staying?”
“Who is the greatest in the kingdom?”
“Do you want us to command down fire from heaven and consume them?”
“Why do the religion scholars say that Elijah has to come first?”
“Will you teach us how to pray?”
Until now you have asked for nothing in My name.
If Jesus is saying this we must assume that just asking question to Him is not what this is about.
‘IN MY NAME’
This word abide and being one with Jesus and Father as they are one is correlated with being in HIS NAME.
I think a big part of being in His name is to not be focused on your self and your personal needs alone.
What if we just ask His opinion about something with no agenda behind it but getting to know who He is?
In His name is to catch the heart of Father and to be one with Jesus.
You catch someones heart by finding out what his or her heart loves.
Asking a question of Jesus:
When you are hoping from a decision from Father to be made in your life we should listen to the wisdom given to us.
Psalm 100:4 (NASB95)
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
Enter His gates = to get close to Him.
His courts = where decisions are made.
Thanks = to posture your heart to be thankful
Praise = to proclaim who He is.
Here is a great example of how to talk to Jesus.
How to hear Father:
God speaks 3 primary ways.
Thought, picture, or feeling.
You do hear Him you just may not have turned off some other voices yet to hear him clear.
You feel peace and a hope from inside your heart.
You feel like you have to move.
You feel compassion for others.
There will be confirmations of what you are hearing, especially by people who love you and are for you. The thoughts, pictures, or feelings will match what you know deep down to be true. They will match the character, nature, and way of God.
Father’s voice causes us to wake up and love to come alive.
If you think that He is mad at you or wants to make you feel guilty of heavy you wont hear his voice clear or at all.
Sometimes you have to turn off some voices to hear.
Example in my life of listening after I turned of some voices.
The renewal
People miss representing Father.
Not only do we need to hear Father, but we need to know His heart and will.
How and When:
When and How is also an important part of hearing Father’s voice.
David heard God on the fact that Saul would be delivered to Him. It just wasn’t supposed to be in the cave or by his hand.
Elijah was told by God to go put your coat on Elisha. He thought that was it, but when Elisha gave up everything he had to follow Elijah. Elijah said what do you want with me.
Jesus told His disciples to tell no one that He was the Christ the Son of God.
Abraham left not know how or when he would receive the promise land.
Closing:
Philippians 4:6–9 (NASB95)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
This scripture is a key to it all. Abiding, being one with Him, requesting in His name and being frilled with peace and joy in Christ Jesus.
If you want to ask Jesus a question in His name, spend time with Him.
Give thanks to Jesus.
Praise who He is in your life and to all.
We are going to Talk to Jesus today.
We are going to Listen to Jesus today.
Activation:
As you listen to this song, think of things to be thankful for, and proclaim who Jesus is in your life.

John 15:7 NASB95
7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
John 16:13 NASB95
13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
1 John 2:27 NASB95
27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
1 John 2:20–21 NASB95
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
Psalm 139:17–18 NASB95
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
