What is Baptism?

Baptism is a symbol of our salvation. It is the commitment a person makes after they are saved to die to their old way of life, and to follow after Christ.

It is also the entry point, by which we join the body of Christ.

It is meant for people who are believers

Rom 6:1-4

V. 1-

Paul just spent chapter 5 explaining the relationship between the law and grace.

After explaining that people in response to law sin all the more, and grace is sufficient to cover all sin

He then is answering the question, can we just sin all we want?

No!

V. 2-

If salvation is death to sin, how can people who have been saved and transformed by God continue to live in it?

V. 3-4-

This is what baptism represents, that we have been raised to life by God, and are now called to walk in newness of life.

This is why we are baptized after our salvation, and the greatest act of obedience we partake in after our salvation is a commitment to walk in holiness and pursuit after God, and by baptism joining a group of believers (AKA Church)
