Rejecting and receiving

The Disciples were sharing in their last meal together, Jesus was encouraging and guiding them as to how they should go about their lives after he goes away...
John 13:37,38
“Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.”
Sometimes we get set on fire for God… We have moments like this, where we tell God, I will never sin again… Then moments later, we find ourselves within that very sin we attempted to avoid
We find ourselves, moments before Jesus would be placed on a cross… The Jews had taken Jesus captive and were preparing to crucify him...
Peter denies Jesus for the first time:
John 18:17
“The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.””
Peter denies Jesus for a second time:
Matthew 26:69-70
“Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.””
Peter denies Jesua a third time:
Luke 22:58-62
“And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.”
