Do I Have To See The Fruit?

Have you ever set someone up for success? Like you made it so someone would succeed instead of you?
Story of
In Northern Sumatra there is a tribe named the Batak Tribe that was 100% muslim, and cannibalistic.
Missionary couple made their way there
shared the gospel
tribal leaders captured them
murdered them
cannibalized them
Years later another missionary came
shared the gospel
the story was the same but this time they listened
today there are 3 million Christians among the Batak tribe
Today I want us to ask the question, Can I be the First missionary couple?
Would I be ok to be killed and eaten so those who come after me would see people come to Christ?
Sometimes God calls us to help get others to get across the finish line
Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt, through the wilderness, dealt with their sin, rejection, unbelief, and doubt, but he never got to step foot into the promise land, but Joshua did.
Deuteronomy 32:48–52 NIV
On that same day the Lord told Moses, “Go up into the Abarim Range to Mount Nebo in Moab, across from Jericho, and view Canaan, the land I am giving the Israelites as their own possession. There on the mountain that you have climbed you will die and be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people. This is because both of you broke faith with me in the presence of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin and because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites. Therefore, you will see the land only from a distance; you will not enter the land I am giving to the people of Israel.”
Numbers 20:12 NIV
But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
Moses Knew that he was not going to the promise land, but he still served God and was willing to be there so that others would know the promise that God laid out before them
Today in our culture it is about self
It is about what I want
its about wanting things my way
little regard is given to what God wants
little regard is given to what others needs
Very few people would be willing to be the first missionary couple, this is due to pride and the need to be the focus
We need to put ourself aside and let our pride turn to humbleness
1 Corinthians 10:24 NIV
No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
Galatians 5:14 NIV
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
When we but ourselves aside we can then humble ourselves
Romans 12:3 NIV
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Let’s look at 3 ways to help us be willing to be the first couple

Be grateful

Having a grateful heart is key to becoming more humble and selfless. We are told to have this heart already
Ephesians 5:20 NIV
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Be Considerate Towards Others

When people need help, make the decision to help. Make
Galatians 6:2 NIV
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Following Jesus’ Teachings

We must follow what Jesus says, not just read it but live it, follow it and obey it
1 Peter 2:21 NIV
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
