We are not part of a religion, we have a friendship with Jesus.

Here is a couple of great examples of how to talk to Jesus.
Psalm 100:4 (NASB95)
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
Enter His gates = to get close to Him.
His courts = where decisions are made.
Thanks = to posture your heart to be thankful
Praise = to proclaim who He is.
Philippians 4:6–9 (NASB95)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
This scripture is a key to it all. Abiding, being one with Him, requesting in His name and being frilled with peace and joy in Christ Jesus.
When your heart is in a place of gratitude, you can discover what your real request is.
When you discover what you really want, His peace comes and guards your heart.
The things that you have seen others do that you know are God, practice them and His peace with be with you.
How to hear Father:
God speaks 3 primary ways.
Thoughts, Pictures, or a Sense.
You do hear Him you just may not have turned off some other voices yet to hear him clear.
You feel peace and a hope from inside your heart.
You feel like you have to move.
You feel compassion for others.
There will be confirmations of what you are hearing, especially by people who love you and are for you. The thoughts, pictures, or feelings will match what you know deep down to be true. They will match the character, nature, and way of God.
Father’s voice causes us to wake up and love to come alive.
If you think that He is mad at you or wants to make you feel guilty of heavy you wont hear his voice clear or at all.
Sometimes you have to turn off some voices to hear.
Example in my life of listening after I turned of some voices.
The renewal
People miss representing Father.
Not only do we need to hear Father, but we need to know His heart and will.
How and When:
When and How is also an important part of hearing Father’s voice.
David heard God on the fact that Saul would be delivered to Him. It just wasn’t supposed to be in the cave or by his hand.
Elijah was told by God to go put your coat on Elisha. He thought that was it, but when Elisha gave up everything he had to follow Elijah. Elijah said what do you want with me.
Jesus told His disciples to tell no one that He was the Christ the Son of God.
Abraham left not know how or when he would receive the promise land.
After you have heard God and you have peace, continue to hear and seek out When and How.
Closing:
If you want to ask Jesus a question in His name, spend time with Him.
Give thanks to Jesus.
Praise who He is in your life and to all.
What is something you are thankful for today?
Give Him that thank You.
At some point after you feel that grateful heart ask Jesus for what your heart desires.
Activation:
Tell God something you are thankful for.
Ask God, What do you want me to know today?

26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
Luke 10:6 NASB95

1 John 2:27 NASB95
27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
1 John 2:20–21 NASB95
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
Psalm 139:17–18 NASB95
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
