Introduction

Good Evening Everyone, Beofre i start i just want to honour my father his here today and if we could give him a warm welcome.
We Started a new series called Salvation and last week we talked about justication. If you missed it it was a lovely word give by salem lemma. In summary the idea is one is made right with God by faith in the person and work of jesus christ.

Transition

Today we are going to talk about sanctifaction.
What it Sanctifcation
What should movative our desire for Santifcation
How does God Sanctfy his people

What is Sanctifcation

Defination
Sanctifaction is the proccess in which one is being made holy. Its both an our identity and a proccess we partake as Gods Childern. Sanctification is the consequence of justification and is dependent upon a person being in a right relationship with God through the work of Jesus Christ.
Last Week Summary
Last week we taught justifcation is a free gift of God through the work of jesus christ on the cross he died and rose from the grave by whcih he atoned for your sins and offers us forgivness of sins as to be recieved by grace through faith. Its Gods work in which we rest in. He adopts us into his family and calls us his childern.
Position as Childern vs Devolpment in holiiness
Sanctifaction is the next step in our salvation which is both the staus and proccess of holiness. This distinction is important because without it you will confuse your position with your devolpment. Let me explain it this way imagine you have a child did the child earn her position and access to this relationship with you no it was a gift you gve the child when you birthed it but does that child have to devolpe no doubt you dont want a 30 year old infant in your home but here is where the distincation become important does the pace or growth of your child change his staus as your child. It doesnt he staus was given freely.
John 1:9–13 NIV
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
This is important to understand that your position in God family and your declarition is a gift but your devolpment is a proccess. There will be seasons where your strong and seasons where your weak seasons where your standing firm and seasons where you fall but we cant forget our position in light of our devolpment.
My Testimony
I remember when i was a new christian i was constantly on this emotion roller coaster becuase when i sinned i would question my position with devolpment.
God is holy
God is Holy and the word means set apart he is different from all creation but he wants to share his characteristics with his childern. God wants all his childern to be like him and he walks with them on a jourmey that relfect love.
1 Peter 1:15–16 NIV
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Transition

I love plants, The thing about a plant is the leafs are completely depend on the vine for life on its own it withers and dies but when connected to the vine it grows. Same with us if we try to devolp on our own without God its impossible but if we know our position in God as his childern and let him provide the nutriuents. Then we will grow in him.

What Should Movativate our desire for Sanctifaction

The Fear of God
Job 28:28 ESV
And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’ ”
This Passage doenst say fear going to hell becuase through christ we have escaped eternal separtion an dour inheritance is eternal life , But we need to fear God. One jewish commentarie said we Fear God just Like fearing your parents. If you love them you also must fear them because you fear hurting them. You know the things that would crash them.
God Commited to us and Promise
Romans 8:30 (NIV)
Romans 8:30 NIV
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Philippians 1:6 NIV
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
He is commited to finish the work he started in you, God isnt concerned where you start jesus hanged out with sinners, drunkards, prostiutes but he turned drunkardfs, prostiutes and sinners into sanits which litterlay means people who are holy and being made holy.

Transition

God is working in you and around you and in ways you cant imagine.

How does He Sanctify His People

Remember Saintifaction is on the grounds of our justification
The Work of Jesus on The Cross
Hebrews 2:9–11 NIV
But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
Jesus is the reason your son and daughter of God, Jesus is the reason your holy and becoming holy because he tastaed dealth for everyone.
The Work of the Holy Spirit
Ezekiel 37:1–12 NIV
The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ ” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’ ” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.
John 6:63 NIV
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
Isreal without Gods Words and Spirit were dry bones, there emenys conquered them and there land take until they recieved Gods Word and His Spirit then Life Came. In the same way but when we recieve jesus and he puts his spirit in us to give life to our imortal Bodys.
Our Effort and Despline
Philippians 2:12–13 NIV
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
God isnt against effort and displine his against earning and self selfiency.
