Faith makes us bold.

Hebrews 10:37–38 ESV

37 For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”

Quotes from Isaiah 26 about judgment. But combines it with Hagaii 2 to make it good.

Yet for a little while, -

coming one - a name for Jesus.

righteous shall live by faith - normally righteous speaks of works, but here it is faith.

if he shrinks back - become ashamed.

my soul has no pleasure in him - why? because if you shrink back and are ashamed you likely don’t really believe.

Hebrews 10:39 ESV

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

This is who we are: those who have faith and thus preserve their souls.

Hebrews 11:1 ESV

1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Definition of what faith is.

faith is assurance or confidence, literally what holds up …Hope

Hope - in the Bible means a confident expectation.

conviction - to bring to light

the things not seen - if you could see it then you wouldn’t believe.

Hebrews 11:2 ESV

2 For by it the people of old received their commendation.

by it - by what? faith. They received their witness. Literally word for marter.

Hebrews 11:3 ESV

3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

faith we understand. - normally peope think faith is the suspension of beliefs.
