READ (Hebrews 11:5-6)
The writer of Hebrews is encouraging Jewish Christians to endure.
Don’t stop when life gets hard.
He shares a list of OT people who endured by faith.
Walking through a graveyard with pawpaw.
Enoch is listed among the descendents of Adam in (Genesis 5:1-31)
READ (Genesis 5:21-24)
This man was born and lived… That’s it.
What do we know about Enoch?
Enoch’s release was due to his faith.
He pleased God before he was taken.
He stood above the corruption of his age.
Faith is pleasing to God.

Enoch “walked with God”.
Enoch had no knowledge of Christ’s resurrection. Yet, he still believed.
Before God took this man, He was pleased with Enoch’s faith.
“Pleased God” is the same as walked with God.

Trust strengthens as a relationships develops.
As one walks with God, trust grows.

Enoch may have accomplished much in his life. We don’t know his vocation, righteous acts, or much at all.
V. 6 is clear. Nothing else pleases God.
Natural ambition and works done before the grace given through Christ do not please God unless they spring from faith.
When they spring from us, they the nature of sin.
“Works not rooted in God are splendid sins.” - Augustine
Confidence in God will bless you beyond your talent.

Jesus is the greatest high priest. Through his sacrifice, all people can move closer to God in relationship (7:19)
“draws near” - As a worshipper.
“must believe” - Once and for all
“That God is” - The trust existing Jehovah. The Source of all being.
“rewarder” - The reward is God himself.
