Matthew 11:1–6 KJV 1900
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. 2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 1900
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Hebrews 4:15–16 KJV 1900
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
James 1:5 KJV 1900
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
I Peter 5:7,10
1 Peter 5:10 KJV 1900
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
1 Peter 5:7 KJV 1900
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 Peter 5:10 KJV 1900
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

III. Jesus’ assurance: He was beyond question the Messiah. (v.4-6)

A. He spoke as Messiah.

John 6:63 KJV 1900
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 7:16 KJV 1900
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
John 8:51 KJV 1900
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 12:48 KJV 1900
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

B. He demonstrated the power and works of the Messiah.

John 5:36 KJV 1900
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
John 9:4 KJV 1900
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Acts 2:22 KJV 1900
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

1. He gave sight to the blind. The blind saw physically as well as spiritually. They not only knew the truth of the world, but of God as well.

2. He made the lame to walk. He caused them to walk physically and spiritually. They moved strongly about, serving both God and man.

3. He cleansed the lepers. He made them pure physically and spiritually. They were accepted both by men and God.

4. He opened the ears of the deaf. He caused the deaf to hear physically and spiritually. They could both hear the voice of men and of God.

5. He raised the dead to life. They were given life again physically and spiritually. Whereas they had been dead, they now walked as new creatures before men and God.

6. He preached the gospel to the poor. They who had been so neglected and possessed so little were now receiving the good news of salvation from God.

C. He fulfilled prophecies of the Messiah.

Isaiah 35:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, And the tongue of the dumb sing: For in the wilderness shall waters break out, And streams in the desert.
Psalm 72:2 KJV 1900
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, And thy poor with judgment.
Psalm 146:8 KJV 1900
8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: The Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: The Lord loveth the righteous:

D. He preached the gospel of the Messiah.

Matthew 4:23 KJV 1900
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

E. He promised both the blessing and judgment of the Messiah.
