Chapter 14 Recap

Hudson Taylor in China, evangelizing the lost, trial after trial . . . . learned to rest in the Lord, and really believe that God had EVERYTHING handled . . .
the ministry needs, personal needs, character weaknesses
He concluded that God was faithful, and that he could rest in that!

Chapter 15

Favorite Quote Sharing Time
Favorite quote: When surrounded by danger. p. 184 - “We did not come to China . . . .
reminds me of three Hebrew Boys - don’t know if God will save us or not, but we will not bow down
Happenings of Chapter 15
continued theme of 14, but even more so . . . “I am no longer anxious about anything”
peace despite much trouble, joy despite many hardships
he said it doesn’t matter where, what, how
it is very possible to go through something, God rescue you, and be miserable the entire time because of worry, distress, sadness
since trials will keep coming, it will be good to learn to go through without the anxiety and worry and stress
Scripture that helped him get this peace and joy
John 7:37–38 NASB95
37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ”
Taylor’s interpretation - p 185 at the bottom (108) “Do not let us change . . .
No matter what happens, keep coming to God in faith!
continually, make it a habit, just like we drink water everyday
and the scripture promises that he will satisfy your soul, so much so that you will have water to overflow to others
an example of being living water . . . . Mrs. Taylor nursed Mrs. Judd back to health despite her health, and that encouraged Mr. Judd
Taylor lived this out in 1870!
extremely hot summer
another child, young son, died
separated from remaining three children because they sent them to England for education and health reasons
just a note: - 25% mortality rate (5 years old) in England;
riots and threats of riots happening all around
Mrs. Taylor got pregnant again, but the baby died, and she died (33) soon after
personal illness
all while living in the harshest conditions
one of his prayers, “Lord, you promised! Your promised me that I would never thirst!” . . . . and God would comfort Him
despite all of that - he still talked about “all things work together for good”. Understanding that it was the perfect will of God
Conclusion
when you feel that whole in your soul . . . you promised that I would never thirst.
keep responding by faith . . . . with every new situation
