Luke 4:18–20 CSB

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.

Jesus when He walked this earth ushered inn a new ministry that Had never taken place in the History of the world.

Before Jesus was the law that every followed, and the priest would do ceremonies to get people right ith God

People to this day still try to do things, rituals to get right with God

Perhaps that is why you come to Refuge- If you do enough good-things then you can get right with God...

The greatest commandment is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart.”

When something has your heart is motivates you to acts, and live-

The invitation of God isn’t just to do religious rituals -

It is to love Him back

John 3:16 CSB

For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Acts 10:37–38 CSB

You know the events that took place throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with him.

Jesus was anointed- The Spirit of the Lord was upon Him to do the works of god- which is to set captives Free, Bind broken Hearts, set oppressed people free-

And to set free all under the tyranny of the devil

1 John 3:8 CSB

The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.

Mark 5-

Jesus Goes to a man bound- Cause Jesus brings freedom

The best the world could do is bring chains to keep him under control-

Mark 5:4 CSB

because he often had been bound with shackles and chains, but had torn the chains apart and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him.

The world can bring freedom from spiritual bondage- they can only bring chains to help keep it at bay

How many drugs get prescribe to help keep things at bay

how many transitions take place to help try to find a solution to the inward brokenness

how many relationships are used as a means to find purpose and love

The world only offers chains - it is the best they can do

They didn’t have the word of God and they didn’t know the word of God

God’s word is truth and truth sets us free from Lies

John 17:17 CSB

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
