I. Introduction

How many of you used to watch the old 1960s show “Lost in Space?” I watched re-runs years after it was on television with my dad, but if you didn’t watch it, it was a cheesy show about a family of scientists and a few other folks who go off on an adventure in a space ship called the Jupiter II…they get into a real pickle though when their ship is damaged and they are forced to land on an alien planet far from earth with no way to contact home…they are lost, and nobody knows where they are. Hence the name of the show, lost in space. One of the best parts of the show to me as akid was the relationship that the young boy on the show, named Will had with a Robot that was on the ship.

You know, it really is true that we have our own little voice like that to warn us in our minds and hearts when danger is near or when we are straying....it’s called the Holy Spirit....I don’t know about you, but I know when I am about to do something I shouldn’t I get what the Bible calls that “still small voice” in my soul that says “nuh uh....you know better...” Some people call that your conscience…I call it the Holy Spirit....because the closer you are to God, the more in tune with the promptings of the Holy Spirit you become.....
But we have a very unique picture here of some dire warnings that Jesus is giving the disciples…and that we should definitely take heed of ourselves today....These are unique warings from the mouth of Jesus himself.

a. Scripture: Mark 9:38-50

I’m going to ask you to stand with me, if you are able, as we read from God’s Holy, Perfect, Sufficient and inerrant Word.
<Pray>
Thank you, and you may be seated.

Explanation
Now as you know, what happened right before this was that Jesus casted the demon out of the young boy that was hurting him so badly…and now they are having a conversation with Jesus about something they’ve seen. They saw someone elsewho wasn’t one of the 12 ministering in the name of Jesus.
Now we aren’t given a lot of information…but they were casting out demons in the name of Jesus…and the disciples admit that they scolded the person and said “no! don’t do this!” Jesus turns
