Judges 21:24-25 “So the children of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and family; they went out from there, every man to his inheritance. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
Ruth 1:1 “Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.”
Bethlehem/Judah- House of bread and praise
Psalm 108:9 “Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Over Philistia I will triumph.””
This is one of 13 times a famine is mentioned in the Old Testament. Every time it is used there is a judgment going on. Israel had departed from following the Lord and they were suffering the consequences of their disobedience.
The answer to a famine, however is not to leave the presence of God. It’s not to go to the garbage dump of the world.
I believe this family got scared. There was a famine and they panicked. They left everything they had in Israel and they went to a place that was far from the heart of God.
Are you in Israel or Moab?
If you are in Moab is God still your King? When things go bad to you go from pleasant to bitter?
God can turn your garbage into treasure!
