Introduction Ruth 3:11

Naomi describes Ruth as a “worthy woman”, which means that the people around her could tell she fit the mold of the excellent woman as presented in Proverbs 31. Ruth gave her life to God and made the effort to be a “new creature in Him”.

The Excellent Woman is rare, Her Husband Trusts Her, and He will be Content in Her Proverbs 31:10-12

The worthy woman is not only as rare as precious jewels, but as valued as precious jewels as well.
Her husband trusts her in all matters. He trusts her fidelity, in her conduct in all affairs, and to order affairs at home.
She is worthy to be trusted, and he is worthy to trust in her.

The Excellent Woman Works hard for Her Household Proverbs 31:13-19

An excellent woman is a hard worker, not only for her husband, but for her and her entire household as well.
She is diligent in her duties as a Godly woman.
She is not afraid to get her hands dirty, or when necessary, do the tasks that require strength of arm
She does her own work, she is loath to let anybody else do it for her.

The Excellent Woman Cares for Those Around Her Proverbs 31:20-24

A worthy woman cares about the people around her, and those in need.
A worthy woman makes sure her household is clothed for the winter.
When you have a worthy wife, she is known to be worthy. Ruth was known to be worthy!
When her household is taken care of she sells garments to the merchants

The Excellent Woman is Wise, Kind, and Loves God Proverbs 31:25-31

An Excellent woman clothes herself in strength and honor and will be blessed in time
She speaks with wisdom and kindness
She looks after her household and is not idle in spiritual matters
She is doted upon by her children and husband, the will she her worth
There are many good women, but an excellent woman surpasses them all
Charm and beauty are tools of deceit, but an excellent woman loves and fears (respects) God
She does not need to boast, her work will do that for her.
