The Submission of a Godly Wife
The Submission of a Godly Wife
What It Doesn’t Mean
It doesn’t mean that women are mentally or spiritually inferior.
It doesn’t mean that women should blindly submit to sinful leadership of your husband.
It doesn’t mean that women have no input on the affairs of the house.
What It Does Mean
Biblical Submission is a woman happily yielding to the gift that is her husbands godly leadership understanding the severity of his role before God.

What It Doesn’t Entail
It doesn’t mean you lead with an aggressive, domineering type of personality. You’re a leader to be a gift to your home, not a tyrant.
It doesn’t mean you are a passive pushover either. Ultimately, husbands are to be the steering vessel of the home and will have greater responsibility before God for how their homes are directed.
What It Does Entail
Sacrificial Love (25)
Sanctifying Love (26-27)
Self-Love in Loving Her (28-29)
Application
Application
This text teaches us that marriage is a sermon preached of Christ’s love for the Church.
This text teaches calls us to examine our cultivation as we wait for the person that God has for us to marry.
This text teaches us that marriage is a sanctifying grace as it shows us the seriousness of Christ’s committed love for us.
This text teaches us that God’s gift for love in this world is known first in the death of Christ for us (5:1-2) and second, in the gift of holy marriage (5:21-33)
What does this mean for you today?
That we should refuse the lie of this world that waiting for marriage is not worth it.
That we should dedicate this season of our lives to growing into godly men and women who will have godly marriages for the glory of God.
Don’t be in love with the idea of being in love.
7 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.
