The Sabbath

Jesus has gone to church and they wanted Him to do the preaching on this Sabbath
He spoke with great authority, none ever heard before.
he spoke so authoritatively that the demon in the possessed man had to reveal himself.
And Jesus cast him out of the man, showing His authority over the demon world
when we read the other gospel accounts we find that Peter, Andrew, James ,and John are at the service also
so on the way home to Peters house the 4 are probably excidedly talking of the mornings events
when they got to Peters house Peter asked the Lord to heal his mother-in-law
They just saw the power of Jesus
they had heard about Jesus healing the sick
We are looking this morning at the Redeemers healing touch.
Read Luke 4 38-41

Jesus Touches The Sickness

Shackled by a heavy burden 'Neath a load of guilt and shame Then the hand of Jesus touched me And now I am no longer the same
Peters Mother in law is suffering from a high fever
infection, virus, is invading her body
she is very sick
V 38-39 In the other accounts Matt, Mark it tells us that Jesus reached down and touched her or reached down and raised her up
so Jesus spoke / rebuked the illness, and touched her.
and the illness immediately was gone
She began getting things ready for the after church meal
V 40 at the end of the sabbath the people were able to work again so they brought their sick to Jesus that evening
at the house of Peter
This touch of healing from Jesus was
Instantaneous
complete
with a word,or touch or both
There is science behind the physical touch and health
this is not saying what Jesus did. He did a miracle

The benefits of touch last far beyond childbirth, too. Throughout our lives, a whole range of physiological and biochemical reactions happen when you touch another person, or someone touches you — particularly when it moves the skin, says Tiffany M. Field, Ph.D., director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami. “When you do that, you’re stimulating pressure receptors and those receptors send neurons that go to the vagus nerve,” she explains.
One of 12 cranial nerves (those that start in the brain), the vagus nerve helps slow down the central nervous system, putting your body in more of a resting state, which helps lower the stress hormone cortisol, says Field. It can also increase natural “killer cells,” which can strengthen the immune system.
Something else happens when another person touches you: Your levels of serotonin — a neurotransmitter that basically acts as the body’s natural antidepressant and pain reliever — increase, says Field, who has studied this touch response and published her findings
God has provided a way for us to help others in their illnesses to feel a little better with our touch
Jesus is demonstrating that He has the authority and power to heal our bodies.
our bodies are sick as a result of the fall
our dna our genes are more corrupted with each generation
But Jesus is going to give us new incorruptible bodies in the place of this one

Jesus Touches The Sin

He touched me, oh, He touched me And oh, the joy that floods my soul Something happened, and now I know He touched me, and made me whole
V 41 the demons were coming out because of the authority of Jesus
all of us are born into the family of Satan
satan controls all us until the time when we are born again
Satan keeps people blind to the fact there is a savior
but Jesus demonstrated that He was the messiah by the power to remove the power of sin in us
Romans 6:14 LSB
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
on Jesus The Father put our sin onto Him, he bore our sin
Jesus not only touched our sin but, he was bathed in it on the cross
Out sin on Jesus caused the father to turn his head
caused the earth to be pitch black at noon
John 8:10–11 (LSB)
Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go, and from now on sin no more.”]
Jesus bore our sin, carried our sorrows
because the sin in us needed a cure
Jesus was able to cast out the evil demons
V 41
Jesus touch me.

Jesus Touches The Heart

Since I've met this blessed Savior Since He's cleansed and made me whole Oh, I will never cease to praise Him (to praise Him) I'll shout it while eternity rolls
V 42-44 The mission of Jesus proclaim the good news
the healings, the casting out demons, the miracles are the signs the Jews were looking for in the Messiah
the real mission is to spread the good news
Jesus said I must
this is the mission
With this mission Jesus is touching the heart
1 Samuel 10:26 LSB
Saul also went to his house at Gibeah; and the valiant men whose hearts God had touched went with him.
to touch the heart. all of our defenses have been breached
our will our emotions, our mind. straight to the heart
He touches our heart the core of our being
He takes us out of the dungeon of blind, poor, oppression
He gives hope, touches our shattered lives in slavery to sin and makes us whole
Just like Jesus taking the little girls hand
Mark 5:41–42 LSB
And taking the child by the hand, He said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise!”). And immediately the little girl stood up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded.
We also were dead in our trespasses and sins
Ephesians 2:5–7 (LSB)
even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved
and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
And the touch of Jesus to our hearts took us from being dead in our trespasses and sins to be seated in the heavenlies
Oh, He touched me, oh He touched me, And oh, the joy that floods my soul Something happened and now I know He touched me and made me whole
Songwriters: Willam J. Gaither.
Has Jesus touched your heart?
let me tell you about it
we are born in rebellion to a holy God
our sin has has caused a great divide between us and god
God in His Holy word says
Romans 6:23 LSB
For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:23 LSB
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
no amount of being good, or good works will buy us into heaven
in fact they will send us to hell
so someone must appease the justice of the Father
we cant because we are born going to hell
we are born in sin, we inherit this from our father Adam
this is the reason that Jesus had to come and fulfill the mission that the father gave Him
to die a substitutionary death on the cross
that way our sin is put onto Jesus
and Jesus righteousness in put into our account
John 3:16 LSB
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:17 LSB
“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
John 3:18 LSB
“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
we have to put our faith, our complete trust in Jesus
and his finished work on the cross to save
the touch of Jesus in our heart is the mission of Jesus
Matthew 1:21 LSB
“And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
