Intro

Last few weeks we have looked at witness and how we are new creations in Christ, prayer and methods to pray, and last week we talked about serving and Logan shared about how we can serve this year at VBS.
Today as most of you finish up school or have already finished I want us to look at a passage Paul shared in 1 Cor. about Finishing The Race.

Scripture

“1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of his appearing and his kingdom:
2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear.
4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.
5 But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7 (CSB)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

1- To Finish The Race You Have To Run The Race

Not Run Away
Jump In
Why Run The Race Of Christianity ?
2 Timothy 4:3–4 (CSB)
3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear. 4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.

2- To Finish The Race You Have To Do The Work

2 Timothy 4:5 (CSB)
5 But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Exercise Self Control
Endure Hardships
Do The Work

3- Run The Race To The Finish To Win The Prize

1 Corinthians 9:24 (CSB)
24 Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize.

Conclusion

Paul Reminds Us The Things Of This World Are Temporary.
25 Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown.
Paul Reminds To Run With Purpose
26 So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air.
27 Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified
Big Idea
Run The Race Of Life In A Way That You Can Also Say I Have Fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
