Proverbs 24:1–4 (ESV)

1 Be not envious of evil men,

nor desire to be with them,

2 for their hearts devise violence,

and their lips talk of trouble.

3 By wisdom a house is built,

and by understanding it is established;

4 by knowledge the rooms are filled

with all precious and pleasant riches.

WISDOM BUILDS THE HOUSE!

The bible talks about your life and my life in three ways or using three pictures:

Tree’s - Psalm 1:1-3 “1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

Sheep - Ps 100:3 “3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

… And HOUSES.

Your life is a HOUSE. and houses dont just exist - they are BUILT!

WISDOM BUILDS THE HOUSE… WHICH IS YOUR LIFE

All houses start with a solid pour… a FOUNDATION. Without a solid foundation - you are in trouble.

FOCUS ON THE FOUNDATION

THERE IS A FOUNDATION CALLED GOD THAT WE CAN BUILD OUR LIVES ON

THE BIBLE TALKS ALOT ABOUT FOUNDATIONS

1 Kings 6:37 “37 In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid, in the month of Ziv.”

2 Chron 8:16 “16 Thus was accomplished all the work of Solomon from the day the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was completed.”

Ezra 3:10-11 “10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the directions of David king of Israel. 11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.”

Romans 15:20 “20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation,”

*** i recently saw this in real life: was involved in a construction project or part of it happening anyway and when it came to the fondation aspect, i learned so much: as part of pouring a foundation to build - as part of that process you have to dig a footer. Tough work. I did some of it. my back is still mad at me about it!!

But the footer is actually critical.

It goes DEEP down below the foundation - but is still part of the foundation, supports the foundation, prevents anything from shifting later on, its why your tiles don’t just fall off your wall, or your walls dont have cracks running all over....

1.CHOOSE YOUR FOUNDATION

Choose. We get this incredible opportunity every day to BUILD our HOUSE on the FOUNDATION of GOD - But we get to choose!

Just like when you set out to BUILD a house - you usually get to choose what it looks like!

Its the same with your LIFE: HOW DO YOU WANT IT TO LOOK?

Luke 6:46–49 (ESV)

46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

So many Scriptures to show this: ..... DO YOU KNOW HOW RELIABLE THE FOUNDATION OF CHRIST IS ?

John 17:24 ESV

24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

2.LAY THE FOUNDATION

Whats In IT..... or whats PART of a truly CHRIST-LIKE....Kingdom foundation (pillars).

Pillars to your Platforms to live off!!

(They all lead me into a relationship with God but at the same time set you up to live the life Gods called you to!)

In the BOOK OF PROVERBS it CONTRASTS TWO Opposites that we can follow to BUILD:

One is LADY WISDOM (thats GOD)… and THE OTHER is MADAM FOLLY! (thats the world)

Shifting sands of the worldly foundations!

Pride

Mammon (earthy approach to money).

Arrogance

Comparison

Jealousy

Intellect

Self assurance

Self righteousness

These are what the writer of proverbs calls FOLLY.

here is a FEW PILLARS in the Platform of the KINGDOM!

Wisdom WISDOM BUILDS THE HOUSE>.. but how it begins is interesting!

True Wisdom bgeins this way - with “the fear of the lord” (fear of the Lord). Proverbs 9:10 “10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”

*** i feel as though this could be missed by todays generation: here was my revelation: what God has given me, he can take away. What God blesses me with - unless i keep my holy revent fear of HIM AS LORD … that very blessing could indeed become a curse if i forget where it came from (my example is JILL).

Humility - admit that I got it wrong! Keeps me close to God, not further away!

1 Peter 5:5-6 “5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,”

Repentance - has a double edge to it. It keep us clear before the lord but also keeps us close to the Lord, This is a great foundation to build your life on. Godly repentance is how we BUILD a GOOD house. a CLEAN house. a HEALTHY HOUSE

2 Corinthians 7:10 “10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”

Grace - grace is what helps us, it’s what is available to us in the season we’re in. Wisdom is grace. And grace is using the wisdom god has supplied to you.

1 Corinthians 3:10 “10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.”

Love - this is a pillar.

3.WITH CHRIST, BUILD YOUR HOUSE

in our banner proverb - 24 - a little further down in vs 27 it says something i really like - and believe applies:

Proverbs 24:27 “27 Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.”

JESUS IS OFFERING US SOMETHING NOT JUST FOR THIS LIFE - BUT FOR ETERNITY

I want you to think about this:

THE FOUNDATION you choose to build on TODAY - Can last for ETERNITY - and its found in CHRIST.

Matt 13:35 “35 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.””

What was HIDDEN has now been left available for all to SEE

for ALL TO HEAR

for ALL TO KNOW… That this FOUNDATION.... JESUS… Is available

and thats HOW WISDOM BUILDS THE HOUSE. with JESUS as the ROCK. and as the CORNERSTONE. AS the KING!
