Cave Dweller

~The Priests Slain at Nob  1SA 22:1  David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.

1.     David had bottomed out.

2.     He was in a downward spiral

3.     He had lost his job,

4.     Lost his wife.

5.     Lost his home, his counselor and closest friend

6.     Finally his self –respect.

Chapter 21 tells us that David was dribbling spit and saliva down his beard and scratching on the of the enemy like a madman.

1.     He was a man on the run.

2.     Read Psalm 142 and it will tell you how low and lonely he was.

3.     There is nothing left. Nothing

4.     But Davis did not loose sight on God.

All before God was with him every step of the way and his life was a success.  But God brought David to a place where he can begin truly shape him and use him.

·        He brings us to nothing

·        He is rerouting our lives

·        When you are in the cave..sometimes you don’t others around

·        You want to be alone

·        But God will send them anyway and they were in the same circumstances. 1 Sam 22:2

Change Occurred

1.     Hurt enough to admit his need

2.     He was honest enough to cry for help

3.     He was humble enough to learn from God

Refuge

1.     We are in distress and sorrow

2.     We are sinful and guilty

3.     We need a refuge because we are surrounded by adversaries and misunderstanding assaults us.
