Why do we need a high priest?

Two main reasons:

to speak and offer sacrifices to God on behalf of the people

to make sure the people of God are paying attention to God’s law

first high priest was Aaron, and then a long lineage that came after him. Caiaphas was the high priest at the time that Jesus walked on Earth

What does it mean for Jesus to be our High Priest?

He acts on behalf of us in relation to God

Praying for us

Sacrifices for us

He was appointed by God the Father

We ought to approach him boldly

He understands our weakness because he experienced it

We will find grace, mercy, salvation!
