It’s right and proper to ask questions about who Jesus is.
V27-28
Chief Priests- A group of individuals in charge of temple worship in Jerusalem, and regarded as leading representatives of the Jewish people,
Scribes-teacher of the law. Someone specially trained to read and write.
In first-century Jewish culture the scribes were experts in the law of Moses and often played an important role in the political sphere as well.
Elders- Leaders in the synagogue who helped guide people in the traditions of the religion.
Authority- rightful, actual, and Unimpeded power to act, posses, control, or dispose of something or somebody
Mk 1:22 “22 They were astonished at his teaching because he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not like the scribes.”
Mark 1:27 “27 They were all amazed, and so they began to ask each other, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.””
Mark 2:10 “10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he told the paralytic—”
Mk 3:15 “15 and to have authority to drive out demons.”
Mk6:7 “7 He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs and gave them authority over unclean spirits.”
How do we know how to follow Jesus Authority
2 Timothy 2:15 “15 Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.”
Phil 2:12 “12 Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
Sola Scriptura -

Christians have often disagreed strongly on the locus of authority, with Protestants affirming the authority of the Bible alone (*sola Scriptura) and Catholics and Orthodox Christians assigning greater weight to the church and its historical traditions. Debate

The authority of Scripture is so rooted in and closely link to the authority of Jesus Christ that the two are indivisible. To attempt to distinguish them is like asking which blade on a pair of scissors is more important or which leg of a pair of pants is more necessary. We know Christ through the Bible and we understand the Bible through the Knowledge of Christ and the Spirit he sent.
Thus saith the Lord - The Word of the Lord Came to - Truly I tell you-
You have heard it said - But I say to you.

It’s right and proper to ask questions about who Jesus is.

It is wrong not to answer the questions you have truthfully.

V. 29-30 -Answer a question with a question
John the Baptist
John 1:6-8 “6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but he came to testify about the light.
John 1:19-27 “19 This was John’s testimony when the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him, “Who are you?” 20 He didn’t deny it but confessed, “I am not the Messiah.” 21 “What then?” they asked him. “Are you Elijah?” “I am not,” he said. “Are you the Prophet?” “No,” he answered. 22 “Who are you, then?” they asked. “We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What can you tell us about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am a voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord—just as Isaiah the prophet said.” 24 Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. 25 So they asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you aren’t the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet?” 26 “I baptize with water,” John answered them. “Someone stands among you, but you don’t know him. 27 He is the one coming after me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to untie.””
V.31-33a
They would be condemned by the people for not believing John and accepting gJesus as the Messiah
And if the said is was not form God the people would get them too!
