Happy Blessed Mother’s Day
SLIDE 2 “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY”
Words about moms and appreciation
Today a message about a mom who the Lord brought to my attention as I was praying for a direction in today’s message
For everyone here today as a mom, helping a mom or moms, being a moms influence to a mom’s children.....I pray this message is a wonderful encouragement.
Here is what is key for today’s message......it does not matter what our culture or society says about you as a mom or mom example
It does not matter what you family or friends say.... it matters what God says about you and the plans He has and will complete in you and that it may be a blessing to others after you.
Our message today picks up at the time in the bible when Jacob leaves his family to find a wife
The story begins with blessings and command from his father Issac
Let’s see how these plays out and the masterful plan God puts together through using a woman and a mom
SLIDE 3
10 When Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, Jacob went up and rolled the stone from the mouth of the well and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
SLIDE 4
11 Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted his voice and wept.
12 Jacob told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and that he was Rebekah’s son, and she ran and told her father.
SLIDE 5
13 So when Laban heard the news of Jacob his sister’s son, he ran to meet him, and embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Then he related to Laban all these things.
SLIDE 6
14 Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” And he stayed with him a month.
15 Then Laban said to Jacob, “Because you are my relative, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what shall your wages be?”
The perfect love story, nothing could be better, just as I dreamed of and planned for....right
SLIDE 7
16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
Uh oh
SLIDE 8
17 And Leah’s eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful of form and face.
18 Now Jacob loved Rachel, so he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”
Jacob said to Laban....I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel
And he did because those seven years just seemed like a few days for Jacob
SLIDE 9
21 Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my time is completed, that I may go in to her.”
22 Laban gathered all the men of the place and made a feast.
SLIDE 10
23 Now in the evening he took his daughter Leah, and brought her to him; and Jacob went in to her.
24 Laban also gave his maid Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid.
SLIDE 11
25 So it came about in the morning that, behold, it was Leah! And he said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served with you? Why then have you deceived me?”
Laban .... hey its not the custom to marry the younger before the older
complete this one week with Leah and serve me 7 more years and I will give you Rachel
So that is how it all works out Jacob now has two wives and two servants to his wives and Jacob has the wife with all the looks and all the attention,
everything culture, society and her husband Jacob wants Rachel to be
But what about Leah… all she had were kind gentle eyes and her husband gave all his attention and love to Rachel
According to custom according to family and society the older was married off before the younger,
Leah may had said I did everything my father told me to do, everything as planned and this is how its turned out
Women and moms here today never give up on the Lord, always know He has the future figured out with brilliant fashion
Lets look on
SLIDE 12
31 Now the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, and He opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.
SLIDE 13
32 Leah conceived and bore a son and named him Reuben, for she said, “Because the Lord has seen my affliction; surely now my husband will love me.”
33 Then she conceived again and bore a son and said, “Because the Lord has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also.” So she named him Simeon.
You know sometimes its not what others are saying who we are or society or culture but what we are saying about ourselves
SLIDE 14
34 She conceived again and bore a son and said, “Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore he was named Levi.
35 And she conceived again and bore a son and said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
Leah said it all so true and carried this out in naming Judah from praise the Lord....amen?
We keep praising God, let Him tell us who we are in His sight and trust His great plan
Well Leah has more son’s and a daughter Dinah including Rachel and their servants that make up the 12 tribes of Israel
These sons of Jacob well they were not perfect, just as families are today they had issues
Jacob is old and now fixing to die and time to bless his son’s, the oldest Reuben should be a slam dunk, lets’s see
SLIDE 15
3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn;
My might and the beginning of my strength,
Preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power.
4 “Uncontrolled as water, you shall not have preeminence,
Because you went up to your father’s bed;
Then you defiled it—he went up to my couch.
SLIDE 16
5 “Simeon and Levi are brothers;
Their swords are implements of violence.
6 “Let my soul not enter into their council;
Let not my glory be united with their assembly;
Because in their anger they slew men,
And in their self-will they lamed oxen.
SLIDE 17
7 “Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
And their wrath, for it is cruel.
I will disperse them in Jacob,
And scatter them in Israel.
SLIDE 18
8 “Judah, your brothers shall praise you;
Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
Your father’s sons shall bow down to you.
9 “Judah is a lion’s whelp;
From the prey, my son, you have gone up.
He couches, he lies down as a lion,
And as a lion, who dares rouse him up?
SLIDE 19
10 “The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes,
And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
WORSHIP TEAM COME
SLIDE 20
5 and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”
