Our Sister’s Eulogy has already been preached by her closest friends and family who love her most. I just want to offer a word of encouragement to crystalize what has already been spoken.
We are in the book of revelations Chapter 14:13 and it reads
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
I want to take a moment and read this from the message version so that we can really appreciate what this text is saying.
13 I heard a voice out of Heaven, “Write this: Blessed are those who die in the Master from now on; how blessed to die that way!” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “and blessed rest from their hard, hard work. None of what they’ve done is wasted; God blesses them for it all in the end.”
“A Blessed Transition”
Beloved in this life, at some point or another, we all have to go through a transition.
From the time we enter this world from the womb,
to the time that we return to our dear father,
We all have to go through a transition.
If I were to poll the room this morning,
all of us would be able testify about going through a transition.
Be it a relational transition,
A job transition,
A house transition,
A transition from being single to married
A transition from being young to old
A transition from being a high school student to a college student.
or
A transition, from being good to not so good
We all have faced some transitions before.
Transitions, Can cause a level of uncertainty
Transitions, can cause a level of pain
Transitions, Can cause some sleepless nights
And those transitions can be a complete burden on your life.
But there are some transitions of your life that can put a smile on your face.
Transitions that remind you of the power of God
Transitions that let you know it was all worth it.
Transitions that remind you of how strong you are.
And those transitions can be a complete blessing in your life.
And it is no secrete that the place we are in is a major transition that may seem like a burden.
But it is my assignment to inform you and encourage you, that this transition that our sister has gone through, is actually a Blessed Transition.
It is in this book of Revelations Chapter 14 where we find John “The revelator” writing these words.
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord
And he writes these words to encourage the believers that there’s a blessed state for those who die in the Lord.
This text somehow seems like an oxymoronic statement because How can one in this state be blessed?
Well the reason that she’s blessed is because of
1. Her relationship with the Lord
1. Her relationship with the Lord
The bible says “Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord.”
This blessed in the original language means “happy”, “Fortunate”, and or Better off.
it gives one the notion that those who die with a relationship with the Lord will be just fine.
Which means her relationship with the Lord secured her future with the Lord.
This is a blessed transition because we don’t have to wonder where she’s at.
We don’t have to worry about who she’s with bu
t because of her relationship with God, we know exactly where she is.
She’s blessed because she died in the Lord.
She’s better off because she died in the Lord.
She’s fortunate because she died in the Lord
She’s happy because she died in the Lord.
She’s healed because she died in the Lord.
She’s not sad, because she died in the Lord
She’s not in pain Because she died in the Lord
She’s not worried Because she died in the Lord
This is a blessed transition, because she was able to transition with a relationship with God.
Her relationship with God opened up a door for her to have a blessed eternity.
this is a blessed transition because of her relationship with God
But this is also a blessed transition because of
2. Her Rest from her Labors
2. Her Rest from her Labors
The Bible says “Blessed” are the dead who die in the Lord because they will receive REST from their hard, hard work.
I was not fortunate enough to have a personal relationship with our sister but after talking to her children and listening to the stories it seems as if she were the matriarch of this family.
And it seems as through from the time she came on this earth she was working.
She was working as a Cheerleader for Booker T washington
She was working as A Teacher’s assistant
She was working as a mother
She was working as an aunt
She was working as a home health aide
She was working as a wife
Everything that she did in this life required some work
and this text gives us the assurance that through all of the work she did, she’s able to get some rest.
And rest doesn’t mean anything to you if you hadn’t worked.
But when you’ve worked for 64 years
Serving
Nurturing
Caring
Loving
Raising Children
and Everything else
It’s a joy to know that she can get some rest.
Rest from her hard work
Rest from her sleepless nights
Rest from her many jobs
Rest from her stresses
Rest from her sorrows.
She’s worked hard in her life. She deserved some rest.
Not only is this a blessed transition becasue of her 1. Relationship with the lord
Not only is this a blessed transition becuase of her 2. Rest from her labor.
But lastly This is a blessed transition because of her
3. Residence in the LAND.
3. Residence in the LAND.
THIS LAND IS NOT JUST ANY LAND.
OH BUT THIS LAND IS A LAND OF THE LIVING .
THIS LAND IS A LAND WHERE THE WICKED SHAL CEASE FROM TROUBLES
THIS LAND IS A LAND WHERE THE WEARY SOULS WILL BE AT REST
CAN I TALK ABOUT THE LAND?
Theres no sickness in this land
There’s no stressing in this land.
There’s no heartache in the land
There’s no troubles in this land
the streets are paved with Gold in this land
There are 12 gates in this land
oh she’s not just going to this land,
But she has a residence in this land
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
She’s got a residence up there.
Let not your hearts be troubled, Ye believed in God believe also in me, for in my father’s house are many mansions.
She’s got a residence up there.
This death is a blessed transition because she has access to the eternal. And thanks be to God, that one of these ole days
If we live our lives correctly, and do what we’re supposed to do.
if we get a relationship
If we work for Jesus.
then we will have access.
Sleep on my sister, we will see you in the morning.
