SLIDE 2 “REVELATION’S SEVEN TRUMPETS”
The emphasis in Revelation 10 is on God the Creator. Various judgments have already been felt by the heavens, the earth, and the sea; and more judgments are to come.
Recall that the martyred saints in heaven were concerned about God’s seeming delay in avenging their deaths (Rev. 6:10–11). “How long, O Lord, how long?” has been the cry of God’s suffering people from age to age.
God’s seeming delay in fulfilling His promises has given the scoffers opportunity to deny God’s Word and question His sincerity (see 2 Peter 3). God’s Word is true and His timing, perfect. This means comfort to saints—but judgment to sinners.
God has been delaying His judgments so that lost sinners will have time to repent (2 Peter 3:1–9); now, however, He will accelerate His judgments and accomplish His purposes.
SLIDE 3
2 Peter 3:1–2 NASB95
1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.
SLIDE 4
2 Peter 3:3–4 NASB95
3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
SLIDE 5
2 Peter 3:5–6 NASB95
5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.
SLIDE 6
2 Peter 3:7–8 NASB95
7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
SLIDE 7
2 Peter 3:9 NASB95
9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Last Revelation message week before last - The strong angel coming down from heaven stating the 7th angel is about to sound - handing John the to eat it that it would taste sweet as honey but be bitter in his stomach - and to prophesy again concerning the nations
Remember this scripture every time we go further and further into Revelation
SLIDE 8
Revelation 1:1–3 (NASB95)
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,
2 who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
SLIDE 9
Revelation 11:1–2 NASB95
1 Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it. 2 “Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.
More than likely the temple the antichrist sets up in Jerusalem
There will be many there to worship
We know from chapter 9 over half of the world population has been killed - The 4th Seal in chapter 6 the pale green horse named death killed 1/4 and then chapter 9 the 6th angel sounded 6th trumpet and armies (2 hundred million) of the abyss kill 1/3 mankind
SLIDE 10 I WILL NOT READ THIS BUT PUT ON SCREEN FOR REFERENCE
Revelation 9:20–21 NASB95
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.
The rest of mankind still does not repent and continues to worship demons, gold silver and works of their hands
So John is measuring the temple in Jerusalem that has been corrupted by the anti christ and those worshipping ....but this act of measuring also assures us the sovereignty of God and proving Jerusalem is still His and He owns it and His name originally put there
SLIDE 11 I WILL NOT READ THIS BUT PUT ON SCREEN FOR REFERENCE
Revelation 11:2 NASB95
2 “Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.
I also love the reference do not measure the outer court and the spiritual picture it portrays
As it references the treading under foot by the nations meaning those that never experienced the true experience with God and His presence and also a picture today for those that have been around that experience and know others are experiencing God’s true presence but never entered themselves
Jesus also foretells this in the gospel of Luke
SLIDE 12 I WILL NOT READ THIS BUT PUT ON SCREEN FOR REFERENCE
Luke 21:24 NASB95
24 and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Paul also foretells to warn us what takes place towards this time
SLIDE 13
2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 NASB95
3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
SLIDE 14
Revelation 11:3–4 NASB95
3 “And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.
Some believe these two witnesses are Enoch and Elijah, Moses and Elijah or Zerubbabel and Joshua
Enoch and Elijah because were taken up by God
Moses and Elijah because on the mount talking to Jesus at His transfiguration
Zerubbabel and Joshua because John here in this chapter of Revelation will be referencing or quoting out of Zechariah 4 when Zechariah is asking “who are the two olives tress”......talk on about it it from Zechariah.........also Joshua mentioned in Zech 3 about being faithful high priest of the eternal temple in the day of the Lord under the grace by Jesus the Branch
I feel this next passage in Rev really gives us more clarity of these two witnesses
SLIDE 15
Revelation 11:5–6 NASB95
5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. 6 These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.
Reference to Elijah and Moses
Even we may not know for sure who these two are …we know God is no respecter of persons
and the key reference taken form Zech 4 and John quoting from Zech 4 is this scripture from Zech Four verse 6
SLIDE 16
Zechariah 4:6 NASB95
6 Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.
SLIDE 17
Revelation 11:7–8 NASB95
7 When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
SLIDE 18
Revelation 11:9–10 NASB95
9 Those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. 10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
More hope here for those who are saved that we see those who dwell on earth at this time are rejoicing / celebrating and even sending gifts!
Why they be doing this?
SLIDE 19
Revelation 11:11–12 NASB95
11 But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were watching them. 12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” Then they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them.
SLIDE 20
Revelation 11:13–14 NASB95
13 And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14 The second woe is past; behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
SLIDE 21
Revelation 11:15 NASB95
15 Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”
SLIDE 22
Revelation 11:16–17 NASB95
16 And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying, We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
SLIDE 23
Revelation 11:18 NASB95
18 “And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
SLIDE 24
Revelation 11:19 NASB95
19 And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
