Human thought is darken by sin

A very familiar saying

“God knows my heart.”

Why is this a dangerous system by which to live?

Jeremiah 17:9 NIV

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Jeremiah 17:10 NET

I, the Lord, probe into people’s minds. I examine people’s hearts. I deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done.

Why Are We Heart Focused?

1. Sincerity and Purpose Equates to God’s Will

Acts 26:9 KJV 1900

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

Acts 26:10–11 ESV

And I did so in Jerusalem. I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority from the chief priests, but when they were put to death I cast my vote against them. And I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme, and in raging fury against them I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

Galatians 1:13–14 ESV

For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers.

2. Justify Actions with No Accountability

James 4:17 ESV

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
