CHOOSE HIS PEACE
CHOOSE HIS PEACE
i. John 14:27 (NIV) — 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
ii. When you focus on what you can accomplish
1. Every self-help book worth its weight will tell you that you have the power to be anything you want to be.
iii. Instead of God’s power
1. E.g., How to be a good communicator. Know your subject, know your audience, passion, humor.
2. The power of God trumps it all.
3. E.g., How to have a good marriage. Give and take. Love. Forgiveness. Don’t bring up the past.
4. But the power of God trumps it all.
iv. Your life will be characterized by defeat and frustration…
1. We Christians live very defeated lives.
2. The world doesn’t look at us and see lives of hope.
v. …rather than victory, peace, and joy.
1. Who doesn’t want that?
vi. Perhaps you are discouraged right now. Maybe you’ve been disillusioned by unmanageable circumstances and delayed dreams. But this is a sure indicator that you’re relying on the wrong foundation for your hope and security.
vii. There is only one source of true peace _____________________________
b. It has me thinking about my own life.
i. Am I relying on the power of God?

iii. When we face difficulties a shoulder to cry on is a wonderful thing.
iv. But counselors and friends can never bridge the gap of alienation between man and God.
v. Friends will never give you the peace and assurance the Lord can.
d. Only God can meet this need.
i. Only God can meet the cry of the human heart for meaning and purpose and for a sense of security and fulfillment.
ii. A conquering, victorious spirit that triumphs over all the hardships, misfortunes, and temptations of this life can come only from the Lord.
God:
