b’Reisheet, in the beginning, God creates Paradise, but we fail to rest. God begins again with Avraham and his family of covenant faith.
And these are the Sh’mot, names of the children of Yisra’el, who go to Egypt to survive famine. Our numbers grow. We’re enslaved. But God delivers us from bondage and forms us into a nation!
vaYikra—and He calls us to become holy, a kingdom of priests with God at the heart of our camp.
The Land of Promise lies ahead, but we wander in the wilderness, b’Midbar Sinai …

These are the patterns of the wind used in the Bible.
They can be used for punishment or they can be used for cause and effect. To cause us to come to Him
The Re-gathering will not come without the storm
The Re-gathering of Israel
Since the Jewish prophets had predicted in great detail the world-wide re-gathering of Israel, Jesus did not spend much time with this, but only specified that it will occur after His Second Coming. This re-gathering is found in Matthew chapter 24:31
We talked about 2 big different principles:

I can just give you the usual sermon to celebrate Shavuot
We like to study; go deeper
We want to know how this happened in Acts chapter 2
And, Is it possible that it is going to happen again?
We will unpack a verse in Bamidbar in Chapter 4 to talk about this.
It did not only say in the wilderness; or only at Sinai, but in the wilderness of Sinai (the mount of God- the Temple of God)
In the wilderness, Bamidbar, corresponds every year to the time of Shavuot - which emphasizes the time the Torah was given at Sinai (back to Exodus 31:18) .
So the context is in the wilderness of the Sinai,
We are bringing it together with the feast - Shavuot.
In Badmidbar, we also need to consider the 12 tribes - not always obvious, but if we pay attention
Following the Second Coming, the Messiah will send his angels all over the world to re-gather every Jew and bring them back into their Land.
31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The background to the Matthew passage is Isaiah chapter 27:12–13, which prophesied that the final restoration of Israel will be signaled by the sound of a great trumpet.
12 And it shall come to pass in that day That the Lord will thresh, From the channel of the River to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel.
13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt, And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
All will be gathered by the river
Tree of Life:
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’
2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
9 And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.
12 Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.”

Months
The Hebrew calendar is a lunisolar calendar, meaning that months are based on lunar months, but years are based on solar years.
The calendar year features twelve lunar months of twenty-nine or thirty days, with an intercalary lunar month added periodically to synchronize the twelve lunar cycles with the longer solar year.
(These extra months are added seven times every nineteen years. See Leap months, below.)
The beginning of each Jewish lunar month is based on the appearance of the new moon.
Although originally the new lunar crescent had to be observed and certified by witnesses, the moment of the true new moon is now approximated arithmetically as the molad, which is the mean new moon to a precision of one part.
The mean period of the lunar month (precisely, the synodic month) is very close to 29.5 days.
Accordingly, the basic Hebrew calendar year is one of twelve lunar months alternating between 29 and 30 days:
In leap years (such as 5779) an additional month, Adar I (30 days) is added after Shevat, while the regular Adar is referred to as "Adar II".
These extra months are added seven times every nineteen years.
When an extra month is added the last month of the year, “ADAR,” is doubled giving as “ADAR-A” and “ADAR-B” or in Hebrew “Adar-Aleph” and “Adar-Beit.”
Nissan the 7th Month becomes the First Month!
Concerning the Month of Nissan, Moses was told
2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.

It is in this month that we celebrate the eight-day Feast of Pesach (Passover), from the 15th through the 22nd of Nissan. It is called “chodesh ha-aviv” i.e. the Month of Spring.
15 You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty);

Nissan is the first month from the Religious Point of View (Exodus chapter 12:2)
Though actually the 7th month according to the counting of months that had been held from the beginning.
In the Hebrew Calendar it is still considered the Seventh Month.
When for instance, the Bible says, regarding the month and the Ark of the Covenant
it means by the "seventh month" the month of Nissan.
4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

When however the “seventh month” is referred to for religious purposes it means the 7th month counted from Nissan which is the month of Tishrei and considered the first month of the civil year, e.g.
29 “This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you.

Here the intention is to Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) which occurs on the 10th of Tishrei which is the first month of the Civil Year.
Judah and Numbering the Months. Prophecy Fulfilled.
The months are recalled by their numbers in Prophecy:
18 Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,
19 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘The fast of the fourth month, The fast of the fifth, The fast of the seventh, And the fast of the tenth, Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts For the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.’
The Jewish People will have kept the Fasts.

The Jewish keep the four fasts of mourning over the Destruction of the Second Temple as prophesied by Zechariah chapter 8 verse 19), i.e.
the fast of the fourth month, -17th Tammuz
the fast of the fifth, - 9th of Av
and the fast of the seventh, - 3rd of Tishrei (Gedaliah)
and the fast of the tenth, - 10th Tebeth (Tevet).
The Tribes and the Months.
Each of the 12 Israelite Tribes was paralleled by one of the 12 Months.
There are different allocations of the month to each Tribe.
The system that seem to be the most accepted and which we refer to are those of (1) ARIZAL and ELIYAHU which we will refer to as conventional - Biblical. This is used by non-Hasidic mainstream orthodox Jews
and (2) that of RABAD which is used by Hasidim and others - traditional way
Note that the CONVENTIONAL/ Biblical, on the bases of the location where they camp- listing begins with Judah on the right and proceeds in a clockwise direction according to the Encampment around the Tabernacle - from East to South, West to North.
Starts with Judah in the east leading Issiachar and Zebulon (Numbers chapter 2),
then goes to Reuben in the south who headed Simeon and Gad;
then goes to Ephraim in the west who headed Manasseh and Benyamin;
then goes to Dan in the North who headed Asher and Naphtali.
It counts Ephraim and Manasseh as separate Tribes but does not include Levi.
The order of the RABAD is based on the listing of the Tribes when they came down to Egypt
1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob:
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;

But, there is a connection between man being placed in the garden and Israel finding their placement with the camp itself, which eventually will depict the promised land.

Names of the Children of Israel and their meaning:
Names are also standards/ banners
But the children of Israel in their formation tribe
The standard is a prophetic symbol as to possible fruit to come
Because missing the first Shavuot that fruit will have to wait
So when we consider their names we get a better picture in the calendar

JUDAH The most famous heraldic symbol belongs to the tribe of Judah, which displayed a lion on its shield.
This tribe became the most powerful and constituted the Kingdom of Judah.
The lion is the symbol of strength and is featured as such in innumerable works throughout the ages.
This animal is one those most frequently mentioned in the Bible, appearing about 130 times under 6 different names. The biblical phrase on the standard is from
9 Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?
"Judah is a lion's whelp."

ISSACHAR Issachar's territory was the plain of Esdraelon, from the sea to the banks of the Jordan.
This tribe is frequently mentioned together with Zebulun indicative of their being neighbours and maintaining close relations.
The tribe's standard of sun and stars is derived from the biblical phrase, found in:
32 of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command;
which appears on the standard.
Other representations of Issachar reflect the dependence of this tribe on the Phoenicians, in whose products the tribe dealt — as a carrier of loads which is found in the Menorah stamp, as a donkey (on the Jewish National Fund stamp), or as a laden camel (in the synagogue of Aix-la-Chapelle).

ZEBULUN Zebulun settled on the country's seaboard and as symbolized by its emblem was engaged in navigation. This idea is conveyed in the biblical phrase, "Zebulun (...) shall be for a haven of ships"

REUBEN The mandrakes in Reuben's coat-of-arms are based on the episode related in (Gen. chapter 30 vr 14-17), where young Reuben brought his mother Leah mandrakes from the field. The biblical phrase on his standard is from

SIMEON Simeon was one of the strongest tribes during the wandering in the desert but later became one of the weakest in consequence of losses suffered during the battles for the Promised Land.
It was eventually absorbed by mighty Judah.
Formerly the city of Shechem was situated within the boundaries of Simeon and the gate of the city therefore appears on the tribe's.
The biblical phrase on his banner is from
5 And He was King in Jeshurun, When the leaders of the people were gathered, All the tribes of Israel together.

GAD The tribe of Gad settled in the land of Gilead, east of the Jordan.
It did battle against Amon and Moab coming from the south, wandering tribes from the east, and Aram from the north.
The symbol resembles a camp in reminiscence of the biblical phrase -on banner-
19 “Gad, a troop shall tramp upon him, But he shall triumph at last.

BENJAMIN The favourite son of Jacob
Benjamin has remained the symbol of the tender youngest child. The tribe of Benjamin, however, was considered particularly warlike and courageous. To this tribe belonged Saul, the first king, and Jonathan, his son. The symbol of the tribe was the wolf, a predatory animal. The biblical phrase on the tab reads,
27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.”

DAN The original area of the tribe of Dan extended from Jaffa southward.
Samson was a son of this tribe.
As it could not conquer its entire territory, Dan looked to settle elsewhere and the tribe moved north to the source of the Jordan River, captured the city Laish, and settled there.
In Jacob's Blessing Dan was promised that he "shall judge his people"

The biblical phrase on the standard is "Out of Asher his bread shall be fat"

The question to be answer is:
Are these 12 tribes and names follow the Biblical Narrative where we will see their fruit?
3 from thirty years old and above, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the tabernacle of meeting.
We are fully aware this verse is found in our next Torah Portion (John)
This verse however links back to the reason we need to look at the 12 tribes in the context of Shavuot
Shavuot was first celebrated in the book of Shemot - Exodus, where all the names of the children of Israel were presented.
The idea of the first Shavuot was that Israel will enter a Marriage Covenant with God
1 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai.
Remember the Third Month - Sivan
Man commanded to corresponding food - Levi
They camp at the mount and Moses speaks to the Lord:
3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
Their calling was/ is / will be to be priest and a holy nation
Where do priest serve
Who can be a priest
the answer is in our main verse

As the children of Levi are called to serve in the temple because Israel although said YES, could not meet with the Lord at the mountain
Yeshua Himself was 30 years old when entering in ministry as per Luke chapter 3 verse 23
He is linked, through His earthly father, to the tribe of Levi, Judah, and to David
So the people of Israel enter the covenant but cannot keep it
God calls them to meet with Him in the cloud for 5 reasons:
9 And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.” So Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.
10 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.
11 And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
REASONS
1- Hear God
2- Believe in the Prophet forever
3- Consecrate themselves and be clean
4- Be ready for the third day (resurrection)
5- To see the Lord
To be ready the Lord gives them the Torah in Exodus Chapter 20
The people were witnesses but could not be with the Lord
18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.”
20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.”
21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.
They were witnesses, but did not go UP
Only Moses did
If they had gone up, they would have received the Holy Spirit in them
They would have been able to find victory in the HS
But only Moses went up and the Lord descended
16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.
20 Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the Lord, and many of them perish.
22 Also let the priests who come near the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.”
This is definitely a connection to Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.
Pentecost/ Feast of Weeks/ Shavuot
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Pentecost is not a NT event
They were all in one accord, just as the tribes moved in unity.
AS THEY ENCAMP, SO SHALL THEY SET FORWARD.
They would have been in the temple celebrating Shavuot
They would have followed all the rituals of cleanness
All of them would have been Jewish
5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
Shavuot is one the pilgrimages of the three in the year: Pesach, Shavuot and Sukkot
They were able to hear and understand different languages
Mostly Galileans - uneducated, fishermen
They bore witness of the works of God - reversal of Babel
11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
They were supposed to follow the Torah
Obey God - but they couldn’t
Tithing is one of the most revealing ways to see our hearts
22 “You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.
There will be an increase in the produce
Fruit is coming
Yeshua accomplished it for His people first:
22 “Men of Isra’el! Listen to this! Yeshua from Natzeret was a man demonstrated to you to have been from God by the powerful works, miracles and signs that God performed through him in your presence. You yourselves know this.
23 This man was arrested in accordance with God’s predetermined plan and foreknowledge; and, through the agency of persons not bound by the Torah, you nailed him up on a stake and killed him!
24 “But God has raised him up and freed him from the suffering of death; it was impossible that death could keep its hold on him.
25 For David says this about him: ‘I saw Adonai always before me, for he is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.
26 For this reason, my heart was glad; and my tongue rejoiced; and now my body too will live on in the certain hope
27 that you will not abandon me to Sh’ol or let your Holy One see decay.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life; you will fill me with joy by your presence.’
29 “Brothers, I know I can say to you frankly that the patriarch David died and was buried—his tomb is with us to this day.
30 Therefore, since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne,
31 he was speaking in advance about the resurrection of the Messiah, that it was he who was not abandoned in Sh’ol and whose flesh did not see decay.
32 God raised up this Yeshua! And we are all witnesses of it!
33 “Moreover, he has been exalted to the right hand of God; has received from the Father what he promised, namely, the Ruach HaKodesh; and has poured out this gift, which you are both seeing and hearing.
34 For David did not ascend into heaven. But he says,
35 ‘Adonai said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” ’
36 Therefore, let the whole house of Isra’el know beyond doubt that God has made him both Lord and Messiah—this Yeshua, whom you executed on a stake!”
37 On hearing this, they were stung in their hearts; and they said to Kefa and the other emissaries, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Kefa answered them, “Turn from sin, return to God, and each of you be immersed on the authority of Yeshua the Messiah into forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruach HaKodesh!
39 For the promise is for you, for your children, and for those far away—as many as Adonai our God may call!”
40 He pressed his case with many other arguments and kept pleading with them, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”
41 So those who accepted what he said were immersed, and there were added to the group that day about three thousand people.
42 They continued faithfully in the teaching of the emissaries, in fellowship, in breaking bread and in the prayers.

The idea of the 12 Tribes was discussed in our Torah Portion Matot last year -
1 Then Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which the Lord has commanded:
2 If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
We see in the same book, Numbers, that there is a destroyer coming against Israel,
and God “commands” Moses to draw troops from the 12 tribes
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the children of Israel. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.”
3 So Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm some of yourselves for war, and let them go against the Midianites to take vengeance for the Lord on Midian.
4 A thousand from each tribe of all the tribes of Israel you shall send to the war.”
5 So there were recruited from the divisions of Israel one thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
This gives us
1000 from each tribe = 12,000 for war
We are looking at the 1440K, we are not at there yet, but in the book of Revelation you will be picking up a similar pattern.
Immediately after picking up the men for war the Medianite women appear. At the point of crossing to the promised land, idolatry comes
1 Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab.
The Lord keeps His promises in thousands:
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
12000 x 12 = 1440000
The 12,000 is intensified in the Book of Revelation.
The fruit is multiplied by the workings of the Spirit of God
1 After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree.

3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

No one could learn the song, except the 144000 who had been purchased from the earth
They have not been defiled with women.
They kept themselves chased
They follow the lamb wherever He goes
They were purchased from the land as first fruits to God and to the Lamb No lie was found in their mouth - sash of truth - blameless
