Proverbs 3:13-24 “13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. 19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; 20 by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, do not lose sight of these— keep sound wisdom and discretion, 22 and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. 23 Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. 24 If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

WISDOM WILL LITERALLY BUILD YOUR HOUSE - But will you allow WISDOm to BE the foundation?

My burden for this series is this: That you may see wisdom again as something to be valued, sought after and built upon - and that through the decision to PURSUE Godly wisdom that you’ll be able to go and build an incredible life where you live WELL but ultimately People SEE GOD in YOU!

frame and structure of wisdom and how it all comes together and what it actually is!

Proverbs 9:1 ESV

1 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars.

What is wisdom? Biblical wisdom refers to practical skills associated with understanding and living a successful life

Write this down: “WISDOM IS THE ART OF SKILLED LIVING”

the art of practically applying what the bible says is GOOD for my life

SOME THINGS YOU GOTTA KNOW ABOUT WISDOM

WISDOM has been around a long time.

When we read the wisdom literature (Typically thats Proverbs, Job & Ecclesiastes) in the bible we are able to lean into quite possibly the GREATEST teaching on wise living that has ever been available. and God has made it available to you.

Wisdom literature is a genre of literature common in the ancient Near East. It consists of statements by sages and the wise that offer teachings about divinity and virtue. Although this genre uses techniques of traditional oral storytelling, it was disseminated in written form.

Wisdom was seen as a GREAT asset in the ancient world. Nations would search out wisdom and want to TRADE for WISDOM. Wisdom was circulated throughout the ancient world. and there was (until Israel) a high moral value placed on the teachings of wise sages and rulers. and By reputation Wise rulers would be sought after to find and seek wisdom out....

One of the earliest examples of this is the time the QUEEN of SHEBA came to Visit Solomon.

It was an ancient interchange of WISDOM between on culture and another - but it was Gods WISDOM (not earthly wisdom) that Solomon had - because he asked God for it!

1 Kgs 4:29–31 “29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, 30 so that Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.

34 And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

1 Kings 10:1–13 (ESV)

1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions. 2 She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind. 3 And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from the king that he could not explain to her. 4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 5 the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, their clothing, his cupbearers, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more breath in her.

6 And she said to the king, “The report was true that I heard in my own land of your words and of your wisdom, 7 but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity surpass the report that I heard. 8 Happy are your men! Happy are your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 9 Blessed be the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord loved Israel forever, he has made you king, that you may execute justice and righteousness.” 10 Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices and precious stones. Never again came such an abundance of spices as these that the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11 Moreover, the fleet of Hiram, which brought gold from Ophir, brought from Ophir a very great amount of almug wood and precious stones. 12 And the king made of the almug wood supports for the house of the Lord and for the king’s house, also lyres and harps for the singers. No such almug wood has come or been seen to this day.

13 And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all that she desired, whatever she asked besides what was given her by the bounty of King Solomon. So she turned and went back to her own land with her servants.

HERE IS THE TRUTH TODAY: WISDOM WILL SET YOU APART. You will become known as a WISE person and PEOPLE will come and ask you for HELP and what they will see is HEAVENLY WISDOM and they might just walk away and say… Hmmm, i wonder if GOD is REAL

THATS THE POWER OF BUILDING YOUR LIFE ON GODS WISDOM ANOT MANS!

I was given a book about how the proverbs applies to my business life

I began to read about how my would can be protected by having wisdom and learning the warnings that WISDOM provides.

To help you buy into this thing called BIBLICAL wisdom - Today:

“The SEVEN Blessings of WISDOM”.

1.WISDOM is available.

Its AVAIL-ABLILITY IN AND OF ITSELF IS A BLESSING

Listen to me: God has provided Wisdom - Why wouldn’t we want it?

Its a blessing because its available

Wisdom existed before anything else did!

and has existed from the beginning of the world

It has existed and been available for a LONG LONG TIME!

Proverbs 8:22–31 (ESV)

22 “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work,

the first of his acts of old.

23 Ages ago I was set up,

at the first, before the beginning of the earth.

24 When there were no depths I was brought forth,

when there were no springs abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains had been shaped,

before the hills, I was brought forth,

26 before he had made the earth with its fields,

or the first of the dust of the world.

27 When he established the heavens, I was there;

when he drew a circle on the face of the deep,

28 when he made firm the skies above,

when he established the fountains of the deep,

29 when he assigned to the sea its limit,

so that the waters might not transgress his command,

when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

30 then I was beside him, like a master workman,

and I was daily his delight,

rejoicing before him always,

31 rejoicing in his inhabited world

and delighting in the children of man.

There is wisdom available for you:

For business life / Wisdom for the work place! Proverbs 14:23 “23 In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.”

For family life / For parenting Proverbs 13:24 “24 Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.”

For personal finances / Proverbs 13:11 “11 Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.”

For relationships / Proverbs 18:24 “24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

For sexual purity / Proverbs 5:15-23 “15 Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well. 16 Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, 19 a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love. 20 Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress? 21 For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and he ponders all his paths. 22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin. 23 He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.”

How to speak! Proverbs 15:28 “28 The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.”

What happens when we dont speak! Proverbs 17:28 “28 Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.”

....

I could go on… and on and on.... Whatever you are facing in LIFE: there is wisdom available.

2.Wisdom is Searchable

or in other words.....Wisdom can be LEARNED.

The bible calls this the “getting” of wisdom

ARE YOU A GO GETTER IN LIFE?

if you want to become wise.. you need to seek out WISE People. iron Sharpens IRON

Solomon the WISEST person who EVER lived (outside of Jesus) said this in

Ecc 1:13 “13 And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.”

SEEK WISDOM: READ YOUR BIBLE!

The writer of proverbs 5 is (talking about the WARNING of Adultery) ....But it says this - WATCH me & LEARN.

Proverbs 5:1 “1 My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,”

How attentive are you to WISDOM? do you walk through life making choices that involve stopping and checking - is this WISE?

ITS WISE… to DO A WISDOM CHECK IN when you make decisions.

(often we do this with the big ones - but what about the small ones?)

Here is the point: God made wisdom available and able to be taken on and learned.

Wisdom is educational - It can be learned

YOU HAVE THE CAPACITY TO GO AND GET WISDOM EVERT SINGLE DAY: ......GET WISDOM

Proverbs 4:5–7 ESV

5 Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. 7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

Do you want to live a better life?

Do you want to have a greater impact

Do you want to live in a way that pleases GOD even more?

GOD WANTS YOU TO SEARCH FOR WISDOM… to GET WISDOM… and to KEEP WISDOM

Proverbs 3:21 (ESV)

21 My son, do not lose sight of these—

keep sound wisdom and discretion,

3.Wisdom is Applicable

You can DO things with WISDOM

You can practically APPLY the WISDOM that you have been given, that you have learned and that God has equipped you with in your lrarning

This is NOT just THEORY - Its a blessing because it can be applied to your EVERY DAY LIFE!

practical - Can be applied. With what you have learned you practically apply.. and DO those things

Proverbs 17:24 “24 The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.”

Thats bible speak to LEVERAGE your life in the directuion of WISDOM. all that you have, all that you do.

4.Wisdom is Spiritual

Your spiritual BEING can be attached to the SPIRIT of WISDOM

Wisdom is Spiritual.

the Spirit of WISDOM is one you can HAVE

You have the spirit of WISDOM as you ....It CAN DWELL IN YOU!!!!!

The application of wisdom is WHAT YOU BECOME when you learn and apply wisdm: you become WISE.

WHEN WE RECOGNIZE the SPIRIT of WISDOM we ACKNOWLEDE its VOICE>

We HEAR it… in the SPIRIT

Proverbs 8:1 ESV

1 Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?

There is a sense with WISDOM that it can become your friend, it can be in you and come out of you as well - it can bless others.

**every gift God wants to give you, is meant to bless you but also bless someone else.***

5.Wisdom is precious

Proverbs 8:11 ESV

11 for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

The value of wisdom INCREASES in the life of a believer.

here is why - Because you see the result over the seasons of your life.

What happens is you begin to SEE how WELL things work out when you apply GODLY WISDOM and what happens is that you live your life better and you see that THINGS WORK OUT PRETTY GOOD.

THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW AS LIVING GODS WAY.

God has a WAY for you to LIVE

and as you walk it out - you realize how VALUABLE it is

6.Wisdom is pleasant

Proverbs 24:4 ESV

4 by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Proverbs 3:17 “17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”

God does not offer us a tranquil life but he does give us wisdom to make the ride a little nicer!

The way of WISDOM is PLEASANT!

7.Wisdom is true riches

Proverbs 16:16 ESV

16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

ITS BETTER than Bitcoin, Crypto, Nice cars and Houses and its WAY better than anything this world has to OFFER because the PERSON who is WISDOM personified… is JESUS

CLOSE: WISDOM IS A BLESSING BECAUSE WISDOM IS A PERSON

Colossians 2:2–3 ESV

2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Which is CHRIST. in whom… are HIDDEN all the TREASURES of WISDOM

if you seek WISDOM.

You’ll end up with JESUS.
