Created Order

Our God is a God of order.
Everything He does, He has a purpose and a reason for it.
Anytime you look at creation, you have one who is in charge.
In packs there is one alpha.
Any body has one head, if it has two, it’s a monster.
Even the trinity, there is a submission order that takes place.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are co-equal in power, authority, and dominion. Yet we see that the Son submits to the Father, and the Holy Spirit submits to the Son.
God designed marriage the same way.
From creation, God built in headship.
That there would be order within the marriage.
Genesis 2:18-25.
God created man first.
He gave man the law.
He gave man the responsibility of work and dominion.

The Headship of Man

1 Timothy 2:12-14
God has called, commanded men to be the leaders.
This means men, we must step up and lead.
Paul is pointing to the created order as to the order of headship, not a cultural construct.
Men have been created to lead.
We can focus on the task at hand, make a decision and move forward not dwelling on the decision.
Men you have been given a serious responsibility, you are called to lead your wife, and your family.
You are to do it well.
Even a dad who abandon his kids, is still a leader, he’s just a bad one.
If you want to know how to lead, that is the bible study we are covering on Friday mornings.

Responsibility of the Head

You must grow in Christ!
Our responsibility with stewardship is to properly care for the things that belong to God, yet He has entrusted to us.
This includes our wives, kids, and families.
We must continue in the word, continue to be sanctified, growing into the image of Christ if we are going to lead well.

Provide

1 Timothy 5:8
1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
We as men must provide for our households.
Become skilled in a vocation where you can enough money to provide for your family.
If you don’t make enough, ask for a raise or get trained in another job, but we must provide for our families.
Fathers, you must be viewing your kids. Seeing their strengths and weaknesses. Then encourage them into a vocation that they can provide with.
Grandparents in the church, if you see kids having gifting. Encourage them.

Protect

We are the gate keepers of our homes. We must protect what God has entrusted to us.
This is written to the elders in Ephesus, however we are the elders of our homes.
Acts 20:29-30
Acts 20:29–30 ESV
29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.
The premise behind this is, there are evil people they will try to destroy your church.
The family is the first step to the church, if the Satan can destroy the families, the church will fall.
We must be prepared to protect our kids from bad teaching:
In music
On the internet
On TV
From their friends
Cell phones are one of the most destructive things our there right now.
We must be ready and willing to physically protect our children.

Sacrificially Love

Ephesians 5:25
As the leader, Men are called to sacrificially give of ourselves for our wives and children by extension.
When you get home, your exhausted from a long day of work and your wife says I really need you for ____. (sometimes we need a few minutes to decompress from the day) Are you willing to sacrifice sitting in front of the TV to help your wife?
The bible calls woman to a place of submission, but when we love them the way Jesus loves us, it makes it so much easier for them to follow our leading.
1 Corinthians 11:3
1 Corinthians 11:3 ESV
3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
God gives His Son, the Son gives his life, the man sacrifices his desires.....
Everything is being given up for the wife.
She is at the bottom of the blessing pyramid!

Sanctifying love

Ephesians 5:26-27
Are you taking time to do family worship with your wife and kids?
Are you teaching them about God. When you lie down, when you rise up?
Those who are in your care should be more like Jesus because of you.

Woman as a Helper

Genesis 2:18
If you don’t like that term helper, remember that is the word we have to describe the Holy Spirit.
But it wasn’t good that man was alone.
God created a helper fit for him.
Helper= A-zer: It means one who gives assistance.
It is used of God many times.
Psalm 33:20
Fit for=nay-ged: Nay-ged indicates direction. It means to move towards something.
Helper fit for him
Someone to give assistance so he can move towards accomplishing the goals that God has laid out for him.
Helper wasn’t a result of the fall, it was before. If mankind would have remained obedient, she would still be the helper.
For this was the purpose that she was created.
Not to be your servant, but to be your Queen, to help you rule.
You see the God has created women, with gifting’s for this task.
Women are like spaghetti. Their minds see all the different things are can think of multiple things at once.
They will be dead tired and come home to make dinner.
She will stay up all night with a sick child, then get up the next morning to make family breakfast.
A wife will be sick and still clean the house and make dinner.
I cannot believe the strength and selflessness that women have.
God has created them this way, it is ingrained in them to be a helper.

Responsibility of the Helper

Genesis 2:18
Wife’s role as the helper: (Taken from Kieth Palmer)
Relational- listening encouraging, affection, and friendship.
Intellectually- Making decisions, offering wisdom and perspective.
Family- Caring for and nurturing children.
The husband will be held accountable for the direction of the family.
Vocationally- Assisting husband or helping provide income.
Ministerial- co-labor in gospel ministry, hospitality, serving in church
Physically- Chores, meals, projects
Delagationally- Other area’s that arise out of need or becasue of gifts.
Ephesians 5:22
The wife is to come under the headship of her husband as she would the Lord.
Your husband is now the authority figure, and you honor Christ, by honoring your husband.
This is a frightening thing, for God is calling you to place the direction of your family in the hands of your husband.
Husbands, you must lead well.
This is a larger sacrifice than any of us can imagine. You must honor this sacrifice by sacrificing your desires and leading well.
Ephesians 5:33
A wife is called to respect her husband.
Respect expresses a wife’s trust.
Respect gives a husband the belief that he can do the hard things.
Respect acknowledges his leadership and discourages passivity.
Respect provides encouragement and makes him want to love her more.

Closing

I realize that what I am preaching about is becoming more and more foreign in the world. 2 points with that.
There are so many broken marriages becasue it is foreign.
When we do marriage God’s way, it works out better. Because we are living the way God created us to live.
When our marriages are drastically different from the world around us. The way that we do life will proclaim the glories of God.
All of Christ for all of life

Benediction

May God our creator, who created man and woman so different, and gave us different responsibilities and gifting’s. May He now give you the strength you need to live for Him!
May the Lord bless you and keep you this week, may He make his face to shine upon you.
Go serve your king!
